Am overwhelmed when i see the numerous listings in sgcarmart.. I have an idea of what i want, can experienced forumers pls help.. Am i right to the statements below?? As i am a noob in determining the condition of the car (motor n such), i will only look at cars with: 1) Full Agent Service Records (FASR) - cannot lie on millage (i prefer low millage for less wear n tear) - FASR also means regular servicing, proper recording of works done in log book - any accident / major / minor repairs be proper documented. - no unauthorized mods to vehicle I am also torn between getting a 2 yr old mazda 3 ~ 75k (8k depreciation) Vs a 5yrs old mazda 3 ~ 45k (6.5k depreciation) . For an additional of 1.5k/yr, i get a newer vehicle, i assume no need to replace leather seats, rims etc, nicer outlook, as well as a peace of mind. If i get an older vehicle, more likely of replacement for worn out parts, more days in garage, higher maintainence which will also add up... Help Full agent sevc record does not document accident repair if they are being fix outside. same to parts replacement/repair. if done outside, you will nt find any document. do look at the date of the last servicing done at agent as well and compare to the current mileage. the 3 cars u selected is all different sub-model. in terms of specs n features will be different. hard to compare which is better. But I will strike out the white car if I were u. The car is only 2 years old and already change hands twice. U will be the 3rd owner and if u wanna sell in future, resale value will be affected. Mileage of the red car looks too good to be true for a 5.5yr old car. inspect the car throughly inside out and test drive it to evaluate if condition is logical to the mileage. the interior of a low mileage vehicle shd nt be too lousy... Help a) Do you change car like you change clothes? If Yes, get a older car.... your "lost" is kept within the purchase ~ paper value (unless you are very familiar with the car market). b) You sure that your income doesnt change over the 8years/5years period? If that your salary increases, would you upgrade? What if the salary goes south??? Can you downgrade? c) Are you a first time car owner? If yes, get a older car (my POV) as one would not be so "heartache" if that sometime bad happen to your car (touchwood)... d) When you buy a used car, it is all about luck... log book is only useful if that car owner themselves are a car lover & knows alot. Jefkking Clutched January 31, 2012 Share January 31, 2012 (edited) my advice:- - select your choice of colour, budget, year of registered (check the YOM - year of manufactured as that will affect your body scrap price when due for 10 yrs if for export purposes) - pay S$ 500 deposit & request the dealer to send the car for "STA" or "Vicom" for used car evaluation with an "A" or "B" subject to accident free or else you reserve the right to obtain the refund of S$ 500 deposit paid & sales will be void & null (Write in black & white in the Sales Agreement). Hiphiphoray 6th Gear January 31, 2012 Share January 31, 2012 Madza cars quite hardy. My boss got a 6 yr old M6. No breakdown nor major replacement at all. Just normal $100+ servicing every 10k. Went to see 2 Toyota Vios ytd but still cant make out my mind as one of the dealer is hubby friend. As we are newbies in cars, i really want to make my $ worth for buying a car.. but his recommended car is 41800 (5 yrs) and dealer is 46800 (4 yrs). So im still pondering which to go for as i scared y is a 4 yrs car cheaper than market rate...:( For the experts out there, anyone has "press" the dealer prices for more than $3000/-???
