Mahjong74 Supercharged April 18, 2012 Share April 18, 2012 (edited) Last month a taxi uncle hit my rear bumper and just a small dent. At first I thought is going to be a $300-400 repair job but after running around a few workshops with him. We were unable to get any quote >$1000. In the end he ask me to report and claim from his insurance. Car got fixed 3 days later by my insurance authorize workshop. Total repair cost $3,500.00 excluding lost of usage. Any minor repair could run into thousand here. Even I am surprise It is $300 to $400 and can be cheaper if you tell the workshop you had cause the accident yourself or got hit by a poor van or lorry driver. If you tell the workshop that you got hit by a taxi, automatically the repair cost will go up by a lot. This is what I learn from my workshop mechanic. They can of course go to the police but they won't do much as it's up to your friend's discretion to settle privately or to let him claim his insurance. Anyway, your friend should have notified his insurance company of the accident by now or risk losing 10% from his NCD for non-reporting.

Tripleh 1st Gear September 6, 2012 Share September 6, 2012 Sorry, borrow this thread to seek advice. Facts of the Case Had an accident early last year and the other party was fully at fault, though in his accident report he claimed otherwise. I am very sure that if we were to go to court, I would prevail. Reported the accident to the appointed insurance workshop and I was advised to claim from my own insurance company as I was under NCB protection. I just had to pay the "excess" of $600 which I did. The workshop promised to claim from the other party for the $600 I had paid, plus the loss of use of car ( $400 car rental) on my behalf. It has been more than one and half a year, and I still do not hear any result of my claim. I have been calling the workshop and they just keep asking me to wait. When I call my insurance company, they ask me to check with the workshop. Questions. 1)Do the workshop really help me to claim from another party if the workshop already get paid for all the repairs? I don't find that they have any incentive to help me. 2)What kind of recourse action that I can take to recover my damage? I just don't feel good to pay for someone mistake. Thanks in advance. If it's rear-ended case (by the other party) where it's quite clearly it's the other party fault, should always insist on 3rd party claim. Since you're claiming against third party, you can go to any workshop of your choice.

Serve as a deterrent next time.If knn still langgar again, its obvious that he (or u) deserved it! ↡ Advertisement
