Neutral Newbie

I am driving the same TS model, manual transmission.

Fantastic handling but slow acceleration.

If you don't rev the TS too hard, say less than 3000 rpm for most of the time, can get an average FC of 12km per litre (tracked with a spreadsheet for 1.5 years already).

But do check the reverse gear to see whether it is easy to engage. When I bought mine, the reverse gear is not able to engage directly from neutral, but this can be overcome by shifting into 1st gear then reverse gear.

Overall, a good ride. Enjoy testing the TS!

Why would u want a TS?

because, i'm thinking of moving into a saloon. short listed the following.

1. Subaru TS

2. Lancer EX

3. Civic 1.8

lancer EX's engine seem yesterday, civic price is high, thus TS seem to be a fair choice.

2. those available on sgmart, how do i check if they were tracked hard?

If price is a factor, pick up a Latio or bleed at the pumps with TS.

I think at 9km/l.

Jazz @ 13km/l?

If you drive 20000 per year, difference of 4km/l = $1368 per yr assuming $2 per l.

base on above 12km/L seem fair enough. i'm getting 15km/l on Jazz.

yes Bro, assume 10km/L, effectively i'm losing 5km per Litre.

base on 500km / week, 1 month i'm paying extra $160, which is $1920 PA.

Bro, what ride are you on?

what car would you recommend, or wait till 2014 in hope COE might come down

coe wont drop to pre 2009 days.

happy waiting.

but if u want, can buy this. 2018 COE expire.

41/6= 6.7k depreciation/year

quite easy to stomach

Since u are quite a FC person, do avoid subaru. Obviously, it is not the car for you.

Neutral Newbie

Hi all and sorry TS for hijacking. I'd just like to clarify a doubt, are Subaru boxer engines generally harder and more costly to maintain as compared to the usual inline and vtec variants?
