Neutralsg 5th Gear April 28, 2012 Share April 28, 2012 This morning along Bedok North Road (after coming from Bedok North Ave 4), I was waiting at a traffic junction to turn into Bedok North Ave 3 towards PIE. A Maroon Wish driven by a young man was stuck in a multiple lane (Lane 2) i.e. straight and right turning lane when the red light turned while the green arrow lighted up. While he (the Maroon Wish driver) could have stayed in his lane (since it was a multiple lane i.e. for straight and right turning vehicles), he chose to move to Lane 3 (lane for vehicles proceeding straight or turn left) so that vehicles in Lane 2 (making a right turn) are not held up. Such considerate drivers are seldom seen these days. Hence, for the effort to free up rather than obstruct rear vehicles from turning in Lane 2, I cannot help but applaud such friendly gesture from the courteous and considerate driver. To the Maroon Wish driver, kudos to you! and thank you for putting a smile on my face through such a kind act. I wished I had noted the VRN of the vehicle for such noteworthy comment. Nevertheless, if you are a member of this forum, here's a BIG THANK YOU! Hope more drivers will emulate the driving attitude of this young man (probably in his late 20s or 30s). Have a nice day folks! ↡ Advertisement
Mazdaowner Moderator April 28, 2012 Share April 28, 2012 There are, really a lot of polite drivers, I'd seriously say, heavy vehicle drives, prime movers, cement trucks, these guys (most) will give way, and also gesture THANK YOU when you give way to them, and they DO signal in advance, unlike regular vehicle drivers. It's the personal attitude thing. What goes around will come around. Neutralsg 5th Gear April 30, 2012 Author Share April 30, 2012 How did the wish managed to changed lane? 1) Because he could and he did it by switching on his left signal and shifted to the left lane. 2) He could have moved forward and stayed at the front without moving to the left lane and had he done that, it may not be wrong but would have denied rear vehicles from turning right while the green arrow was still lighted up. Question is: How many of us will do that if we were in the same situation as the young man??? Often, most will simply move to the front and stop for the red light to turn green in order for us to proceed straight ahead. Will you do what the young driver did if you were in his situation or would you do what most drivers will usually do? Hence, I cannot help but post such a thread to encourage drivers to be friendly and courteous so that all of us can drive with greater peace and less frustrations. Have a nice day! and drive safe. ↡ Advertisement
