I drove the Mk1 for 7 years. Currently driving Mk3 for 1/2 a year.

Reliability no issues. FC not the best, but driving is very very fun. Mk1,Mk2 the pickup is a bit slow from start up, but once you get up to cruising speed, no problem. Overtaking is not an issue. Very stable at high speeds.

Maintence wise, AD prices are comparable to jap AD. but not much queue. booking of appointments is easy.

There are also other workshops outside that are quite cheap and reasonable.

resale prices are terrible, but you shld be able to pick used car at a cheap price

Focus is very unrated but good car.

Oh. Mk3 is the trend version right? That one looks good. My dad looking at the mk2 ones and used ones are really quite affordable. but between the hatchback and sedan version, no difference except for the body style?

Ecoboost only available in europe for manual transmission.

maybe when it is available as auto transmission, then ecoboost focus might come in

Is eco boost the one in the ford galaxy?

Neutral Newbie

i'm driving a 5-year old Citroen C4 hatchback. So far the car has surprised me in terms of its reliability, I've never encountered any nerve wrecking issues with it. I service it every 10,000km as recommended, but not at C&C. If you want something unique, then the C4 is the one to go for. Both the exterior and interior design still looks very fresh today as it did when it was first launched way back in 2005. Believe me, i get stares from people. Some of my friends are still wowed by the interior. From the quirky fixed hub steering wheel, to the all-digital instrument cluster that glows orange, the built-in scented air freshener, nifty storage spaces, it's a nice place to be in.

I do admit that you need to get used to the stubborn AL-4 automatic gearbox, which tends to rev alot and hang on to lower gears unnecessarily, but once u get used to it, it's not an issue. Factor in the fact that the car achieved a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, and it was one of the first family cars ever to achieve it and the relatively low numbers on the road, it's quite a good deal. As for the people telling you not to buy conti, that's just bullcrap. I owned a Japanese car before, and yes it was reliable, but abit lacking in character and flair.

actually i dun mind 3-pedals cars, keeping in mind more economical to run & better use of the ecoboost power than automatic anytime

Volvo T4 1.6EcoBoost same engine as Ford's.

180bhp, 6 DSG gearbox. Try it out =D And then wait for Ford to put the 1.6 EcoBoost 6DSG engine into the Focus =D

The current Focus Mk3 is 1.6L 127bhp, which is still sluggish, thanks to the heavy body. But it's way better than Mk2 with only 100bhp =(

Finally someone who owns a C4 has commented. Haha. What is your fuel consumption? And the car is really very comfortable? So far have went to see the focus but not C4 yet. and thanks for the information bro.

I was surprised the mk2 only has 100hp but the torque is ok at 150nm for a normal 1.6L engine. If the ecoboost 1.6 comes to sg I think it'll sell. Cos the next is the st version right? 2500cc.

i have been driving the MK1 and MK2, current MK2 into the 5th year. reliability ok normal wear and tear that need to replace especially into the 5th year.

fuel consumption definitely not good at all, but just enjoy the handling worth the extra cents! :D

oh the sprint booster does help in the pick up slightly :D

Erm, the Focus ST will be 2.0Ecoboost.... Haha. Likely to be the 240bhp version that's on the current Mondeo and S-Max.

The next Focus RS though, dunno if Ford will continue with it or not. Hehe.

Mk3 is the lastest version currently selling, trend and titanium.

Ecoboost is currently available in galaxy, mondeo and s-max that is the 2.0l ecoboost.

Focus shld get either the 1.0 or 1.6l ecoboost if it comes

The new Citroen C4 should be coming here soon too. Quite surprising that C&C brought in the DS4 first before the C4. Haha.

Just a pity that Citroen still use the 6EGS gearbox, which is a clutch-less manual gearbox. In order to drive it smoothly, gotta lift off the accelerator just like a manual. Peugeot on the other hand uses a more traditional 6 Tiptronic gearbox.

But French cars hardly caught on here. In Malaysia though, Peugeot is under the Naza brand, that's why can see quite a few on the road. I especially like the 408, which is a 308 sedan =D. AutoFrance should bring in the 408. Haha

Yup. The 1.0EcoBoost effectively replaces the current 1.6L 125bhp version, as it develops the same power, but has much more torque on the lower rev band =D

Just too bad the Focus has moved to Electric Power steering, and the interior just looks weird to me. Rear legroom is a tad too tight as well....

Haven't been seeing many units on the roads....

Wha. U really like the focus? Any chance u will change to the latest one? I think very high chance my dad will choose the focus over the c4. And maybe the hatchback version. Anything to look out for when going to test drive?

I like the Peugeot 308. I think it looks quite nice. But I think recently there is a facelift model? Which imo dun look as good. and the new Citroen c5, ds3, ds4 all look very stylish.

The c4 is using a manual box with automated clutch? Something like fiat's and opels MTA gearbox?
