Sun was elected as the first president of the newly formed democratic government after the collapse of Qing

his opponents were Li Yuan Hong and Huang Xing...

both were not as charismatic and reputed as him, as he easily won 16 out of 17 votes by the representatives from the 17 provinces of China

later in the national wide election, KMT competed with other mickey mice parties who supported Yuan Shih-kai, such as 统一党, 民社, 国民协进会, 民国公会, 国民共进会, 共和党

Led by Song Jiaoren, they easily won the majority

did the CCP hold elections after they won the war in mainland?

A lot of great emperors of China are like that.....Song Taizu, Huang Taiji, Yongzheng (it was supposed to be a rumour that he changed the imperial edict).

it will always remain as that rumor. cause in real, during that era, they are not using the same chinese character as we used today. so its not possible to change the character via what the show is saying.

anyway,i heard it is recorded that Kang Xi wanted qian long to be the next emperor, that is why he gave the seat to Yong Zheng as qian long is his son.

only 17 elities of the 17 provinces get to vote? only 1 person per province isnt exactly democratic you know.

but that is still the closes china had with democracy.

not really, you go read history, the one who struggle against all odds win, not the one who ppl love. good example is liu Bei. he didnt win. another person win instead.

刘备 is being rewritten as a hero in the novel 三国演义 by 罗贯中 who lived more than a millenium after the events took place..in the actual history 三国志..Cao Cao is not a villain as depicted in the fictional novel

the provincial representatives were elected by the people within their provinces

100 years ago, with democracy at its infancy stage in China, it wasn't exactly easy to carry out election for 450 million people...
