Bernard Lim Yong Soon, 42, was also charged for instigating Lawrence Lim Chun How, director of Bikehop Singapore, to lie about their relationship to public servants.

The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) said in a statement that in July 2012, the NParks assistant director had told Internal Audit officers at the Ministry of National Development that he did not have a personal relationship with Lawrence Lim. He also told them that the first time he met the Bikehop director was at a meeting to discuss the delay in the delivery of Brompton bicycles.

NParks had purchased 26 Brompton bikes from BikeHop in 2012 at a price of $2,200 each. In 2012, an internal audit found that there was possibility of corruption of procurement in NParks' purchase.

Bernard Lim has since been suspended from NParks. If found guilty of providing false information to public servants, he may be imprisoned for a maximum of one year, and fined up to $5,000, or both.
