obviously no, no and no for all your questions. coe renewal must be done prior to expiry. if car registered on 6jan 2006, u must renew by 5jan 2016. if u renew on 5 dec 2015, the new coe will activate 1 jan 2016.

What if i want to retain my car plate but have not buy another car yet, when should the application for car number retain should done before coe expired?

To update on my point on my 30 Nov post...

My own experience was that it was painless and fuss-free. The only thing that I noted when I checked onemotoring website on details of the scrapping procedure that there was a small cash amount that was listed. This amount did not show up in the PARF encashment document. I wondered if this amount will go the the scrapyard as they are now the official owner of my ex-car. If this is really the case, then I would say that they scrapyard paid even less for the body than the agreed-to-price. This information was not shared by them (for obvious reasons) but I thought I would share it with forummers here so that you can clarify with the scrapyards, should you choose to. I would appreciate if anyone who did share this so that it benefits us consumers as a whole.

The extra amount that I noted was due to my 'excess' payment of road tax. It was subsequently returned to me via GIRO by LTA. So to be accurate, the scrapyard did not benefit from that amount that I initially mistaken it to be. So they really bought it at mutually-agreed price and everything else associated with my scrap car was returned to be by LTA.

Hope that helps.

To close the loop on the process...

I received by PARF encashment via GIRO 8 working days after scrapping on 28 Nov. Bros have to make sure that your bank account details are updated with Onemotoring.

Now taking "BMW Series 11" everywhere. Getting used to the extra time required and the extra exercise provided.  [:p]

Quoted 200 for body of grandis by authorised scrapper, and it was the highest.

Same pricing by AD's scrapping dealer.

But a word of precaution - ask for road tax to be refunded upfront before committing to scrapping via AD. Their agreement actually specified no road tax refund.

Thru negotiation after my contract was signed, I managed to get the road tax refund along with remaining COE and PARF value. Took some time.

Got $700 for my Audi A4. 3 exporters quoted 1k and above but lowered their offers upon seeing the car (and my condition was actually pretty good for a 10-yr old car!)

Neutral Newbie

Hi Guys, I read in the LTA website that you have to go to the 4 approved scrapyards to scrap the car after de-registration. I understand that these 4 pay very little, I called one up and it was like only $100 for my lancer.

Can anybody advise it is possible to send my car to another scrapyard after de-registration? Any recommended scrapyards? Thanks!

Anyone can recommend which scrapyard for Vios is e highest?

Scrap my beloved Vios for $150 with Hup Lee. I suggest you give each scrapyard a call and ask for quote. I was quite $150 over call, when reach the place. The staff wanna eat me by offering $80. Lucky I told them that I had confirm the deal at $150 when called in days before the d day.

I am driving a Mitsubishi lancer. Another scrapyard offered $400-$500 for the body which is still more than the 4 LTA approved ones (only $100). But the fear is that the non-approved scrapyard may delay submitting the disposal papers to LTA preventing you from encashing the parf value. This is according to the LTA officer I spoke with. I wonder if this actually happens.
