I dont think this will happen. More likely :

1) Western part of SG, all the islands merged and accessible by road.

2) Tekong will be part of mainland. Ubin also if not for the Conservation ppl.

3) Pedra Branca will be as big as Sentosa.

Tekong should not part of mainland, if not our army training where to go? More likely they will develop ubin. [rolleyes]

In Feb 1991, the government announced its Concept Plans that earmarked Pulau Ubin and Pulau Tekong for their high-density housing and light industries. The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) projected that if the population growth of Singapore went beyond 4 million, the islands would be linked to the mainland by the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT). The following year, it was announced that the islands would be enlarged and that reclamation works would began in the next 5 years. On 16 January 1992, the Parliament approved the reclamation of 657 ha of the foreshore and seabed off Pulau Ubin and Pulau Tekong Kechil. It also approved the construction of a low land bridge connecting these two islands. The project was estimated to cost approximately $1.4 billion.

The 657 ha was part of 2,480 ha that would eventually be reclaimed in the area. The Housing Development Board (HDB) would carry out the reclamation at an estimated cost of $1.4 billion. Preliminary works and investigation works were done in the first 2 years but later MND directed HDB and URA to review the reclamation profile with the objective of increasing the amount of land that could be reclaimed to optimise land use. HDB proposed a revised area of 3,310 ha of foreshore and seabed at Pulau Ubin and Pulau Tekong which was approved by parliament on 22 February 2000. The reclamation scheme commenced in October 2000. The estimated cost exceeds $3 billion.

Still a lot of reclamation going on south of Tuas. Can see on the google maps satellite. All the sand coming from Cambodia. This is a big development and will take some time to complete.

Also there is a fair bit of reclamation at the south-east side of Tekong that started a year ago or so, and also the bay to the east of the proposed car racing track and north of the naval base is in the process of being reclaimed.

So a lot of reclamation going on.

think the reclaim land can be even bigger than in the picture, as long as outside neighbouring countries' EEZ?

Pedra branca enlarged and become rich man's resort like sentosa cove...

If reclaimed like pic above...coast guard b super bz..more area to patrol..

Pedra Branca unlikely to be like Sentosa Cove. During the monsoon season, the seas ard there is very rough. Rich man dont like their nice yacht with lots of scratches. :D

More likely developed as an offshore power plant.

Used to sail from Tuas to South China Sea, we can directly sail one straight line to Sentosa. Nowsdays, have to sail south to Sultan Shoal lighthouse first before going straight to Sentosa because of all the reclaimation.

Last time(1994,95), I used to swim at the sea in front of Hwa Par Villa. Now its all land there!!!

the chance is as much as the possibility of hooking up Changi Coast to Pedra Branca.. [laugh]

worry less about the chance and more about the land fill.. where to get sial.. [laugh]
