Land Planning White Paper just released. See the quote below.

"Given our limited land and greater priority for housing and work, we will have to reduce our reliance on private transport and focus on improving public transport. Our car population per capita and road density are already higher than Hong Kong

Dun worry. The gemen know what to do. By than, we should be having great and efficient public transport. Driving will be meant for the rich. By than, we will be seeing 80% of car population are mid & big conti cars. [cool]

COE is a no brainer in the first place, the rich will always be able to afford the COE while the lower/mid income family will struggle...

All along in Singapore, car are meant for the richer ones. I do remember, when my parents bought a car in the 80s, they have to pay 20% in cash as down payment. Back than, roads are bad, but the driving is smooth. Today, we have great roads. But jam almost everywhere and much stressful. Furthermore, with many ku ku drivers as compared to the 80s. Why not go back to those days, where one need to pay 20% or more down payment. [rolleyes]

Maybe COE will be $2.00 .

But ERP will range from $50 to $200 each time you hit one gantry.

Parking $1000 - $3000 monthly.

Everyone will be on electric bikes and skateboards.

Twincharged

You sure you can go public by then? I believe the public transport should by x100 times more crowded and chaos!

well, this is a problem of population , created by the population.

luckily, i got my small little pigeon hole (3ng) with a mrt just 100m away which shud be ready in a few years time ... and a market centre just around the corner also ... so dun really need to travel , except for work.

Seriously, this is a bad move by the govt.

To announce 6.9m a day after saying we lacked foresight on our infrastructure. This is shooting his own foot.

If The govt still is unable to resolve the transport woes, the Coe prices will rocket again n again.

Business will eventually need to increase cost due to rising goods coe. It's s double whammy and no doubt makes Singapore even more expensive to live in
