Nzy Twincharged March 19, 2013 Share March 19, 2013 yes you did. I did not. I said the car stopped in a shorter distance than with ABS. Did I say it will stop in a shorter distance? I was just trying to test whether it is possible for a car to stop in a shorter distance without ABS. ↡ Advertisement
Joseph22 Turbocharged March 19, 2013 Share March 19, 2013 Did I mention I was testing under wheel lock conditions? Or you assumed? I was just testing if its possible for a car to have a shorter stopping distance if you don't use the ABS. Maybe I should have mentioned that. if you didnt mention. then it is implied since you had mention that you are testing on car with and with our ABS. if you only want to test if the stopping time can be shorter without ABS activation. then you do not need another car. having another car will give people the impressio that you are testing between car with ABS activated. also, different car have different characteristic even if same model especially if it belong to different owner. eg. Tyre used, Brake pad used, wear and tear condition of the whole car.etc will have vaste effect on testing. (factory have the benefit of having all things new so the variant will be lesser)

Its just like saying a smoker can die from lung problems. But does it mean he will die because of lung problems? Please honor what you had post. its okay if its a posting error or a mistake in typing. we all made mistake. please look at your post again. where did you say it can stop in a shorter distant? Had two same cars but one with ABS and one without. Didn't lock the tires. If you lock the tires then the car with ABS will stop faster and still have steering control. I braked without locking the tires and the car without ABS stopped in a shorter distance from 60km/h. if you offer some one a cigrate and he say "i dont smoke" does he mean he can dont smoke or he mean he will not smoke? Happily1986 5th Gear March 19, 2013 Share March 19, 2013 (edited) It stopped in a shorter distance from 60km/h. Did I say it will stop in a shorter distance? I am only showing it can. Never said it will. well, you cited your "test" along with your "result" to dispute my post quite early on and countered that your findings were contrary to my statement that ABS will help drivers achieve a stopping distance with the exceptions of certain loose surfaces. you can twist your argument all you want but the grain of your argument is still unchanged. it doesn't help that you shifted a few goalposts along the way as well. What did I change? Did I ever say you will definitely get a longer stopping distance if your car has ABS? Did I ever say that ABS will not help drivers achieve a shorter stopping distance? Right from the start all I was trying to say is that it is possible to stop in a shorter distance without ABS. It isn't always true that without ABS you will always have a longer stopping distance. Didn't you suggest in the first place the ABS module itself is quite the determinant in deciding the braking performance i.e. braking distance? After some forummers replied and commented about the validity of your test, namely how there are quite a few variables in play then did you concede (shifted your stance) that the driver is the main deciding criterion? Do i really have to quote the posts to support what i just said?
Joseph22 Turbocharged March 19, 2013 Share March 19, 2013 It stopped in a shorter distance from 60km/h. Did I say it will stop in a shorter distance? Does the sentence mean it will? Its just showing that it can. Never said it will. you can continue explaning base on your shifted goal post. ultimately, i quoted your post base on the following post that you ask. Did I say its the car? I just said its possible for a car to have no ABS to stop in a shorter distance than a car with ABS. Did I say a car with no ABS will have a shorter stopping distance? you ask if you say its the car. i say yes and quoted you this post. (amend it shorter for easy reading.) I braked without locking the tires and the car without ABS stopped in a shorter distance from 60km/h. then you reply me the following. I did not. I said the car stopped in a shorter distance than with ABS. Did I say it will stop in a shorter distance? instead of focusing on the car. you are focusing on something else. this is not shift the goal post.. this is what? In fact on the first page I already mentioned that if you are the type who just slams down on the brakes when doing an ebrake, ABS equipped car will stop faster while still maintaining control. ↡ Advertisement
