Vitaminc1231 2nd Gear July 23, 2013 Share July 23, 2013 I know the chances of me having to top up a few thousands more when selling is high, but is it possible? will there still be demands from dealers for used car given the situation above? Thanks in advance for the reply guys In 2 years time, COE prices has a high probability to be lower than today's prices due to the higher quota. We have the minister's assurance and statistics for this. The quota will gradually increase every 6 months. We only see a very slight increase for the 2nd half of 2013. In 2 years, there will have been 4 revisions. Have not taken into account economic recessions, which historically is a sure thing every x years. I can only say, use your own brain to think if it will go up or go down. Some people say go down, I don't think it will. End of day, anything to do with me or other people? Nope. it's your car, it's your money. Can you blame bro Columbian78 here if it goes up? Nope. Can you blame me if it goes down? Nope. So, decide yourself what is best for you. No one else can. ↡ Advertisement

The gradual increase is due to more people scrapping their car, which also mean more demand for replacement. COE will not drop significantly. The only exception would be economic recession. I was just asking a simple question. And yes its my car and my money and not yours. Why get all so worked up about it? Like I said, a simple question looking for some decent answers. Bro Columbian78. Thanks for sharing with me regards to the likely COE and qouta movement. I will keep that in mind.
Passat57 3rd Gear July 31, 2013 Share July 31, 2013 they are paid the world highest salary and still make the commuters suffer. this is not acceptable. They are working for public listed company (SMRT), not government. So bottom line is most important. Company must make money, and their bonus depends on that. Ooosh 1st Gear July 31, 2013 Share July 31, 2013 was wondering, I just got my car a year ago when COE was at $58k for 1.6cc below. And due to the change of family plans and living condition, we don't really need the car for our daily transportation anymore. And looking at how the COE is going up still and will ever be (because gahmen wants us to go public), Do any of you think it is a good time to sell my car...say in 2 years time? Assuming the COE hovers at $60k-$70k+. I know the chances of me having to top up a few thousands more when selling is high, but is it possible? will there still be demands from dealers for used car given the situation above? Thanks in advance for the reply guys I advise you to sell it through direct owner sale without going through dealer. This can potentially give you another extra $5k-10k. Last time when i was selling my car, it is worth 45k on the market but dealer only offering me 28k got so fed up end up selling it myself and never looked back since. RoccoVizcarron Neutral Newbie August 2, 2013 Share August 2, 2013 It simply depends on from whom you are dealing with, as the price differs from dealer to dealer. It is misconception that prices of used cars are getting high, if you make your purchase from a reliable dealer, you will not face such problems. Just check out some other dealers as well to compare prices and other aspects, surely you will find an affordable dealer.

Ronleo 6th Gear August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 (edited) Hey guys, I am interested in the mentioned car from direct owner. BMW 523, feb 2011, OMV $41k, COE $75k. Thus I presume scrap value at ard $85k. Not too sure how much would dealer offer him... $120k? If tats the case, I am thinking of offering $130k so tat I will not look Like a scum.
