Simplecar 4th Gear January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 I wind down the window to raise my hand, esp at night. Don't want the guy to mistake my hand signal as middle finger. Yes, thats what I do too. ↡ Advertisement
Maseratigood 5th Gear January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 I can't do this 'cos quite dangerous as my hazard light switch is next to engine on-off switch. Most dashboards have their Hazard light switch near the centre, which model is your ride that has the engine on-off switch in the centre also? one of the supercars?? then u tap ur break 3x hahaha Tapping brakes is a good idea, but not easy to execute if the cars in front are too close to the front bumper..... let me practise and if safe or not

puimchoi Neutral Newbie January 9, 2014 Share January 9, 2014 The use of hazard lights to say thank you is very common in some countries. But not in the local driving culture. It's just too easy to cause unnecessary misunderstanding. I would think waving to show appreciation would still be most appropriate in our culture. Beng2 5th Gear January 10, 2014 Share January 10, 2014 (edited) I raise my left hand for a few seconds to ensure the driver behind me sees it. Sometimes when I filter to the right, I'll raise my right hand near my window (when doing the lane switching) so that the driver who allows me to filter right can see. I'm glad to say I always try to make it a point to wave my thanks, and I feel really bad if I forget to do so or unable to do so due to sudden change in traffic conditions in front of me. I even wave my thanks to those who stop their car to allow me to reverse into a parking lot. It really makes my day if the other driver waves back in acknowledgement. So far though, I have not met anyone who thanks me for stopping my car to allow him to park. Some people simply act blur when they should know you purposely tap your brakes to let him pass, it's as if they have the right of way. Some people simply act blur when they should know you purposely tap your brakes to let him pass, it's as if they have the right of way. When I drive through a narrow 2 way street near my place daily, I usually slow down and keep further to the left to allow the opposite car to pass, but most of the time the opposite driver just drives pass, not even keeping to his left also, but instead "eats" over the middle line as if he needs the entire width of the 2 way street to drive through, also like your case, without acknowledging my giving way to him! So used to such drivers I take it as the normal way nowadays.
Iiiusion 2nd Gear January 10, 2014 Share January 10, 2014 (edited) LTA don't allow LED light on the back windscreen? It's a distraction. I will try to hazard the next nice guy who gives way Edited January 10, 2014 by Iiiusion ↡ Advertisement
