Hi, just want to know how u guys feel on this.

 

3 way speaker with no amp VS 2 way speaker with basic amp, which 1 will perform better?

without crossover 2/3ways dont perform good.

with amps on 2way gives you a low & high which maybe good enough.

3way no amp is just like switching radio in the bathroom.

3way is just an extra of another speaker producing mid range is either here or there.

to perform well you definitely needs crossover.

i will go for the 2way Components with a basic amp running passive...

What the good 2 way component speakers nowadays?

 

I am looking for high efficiency models that could easily be driven by the stock HU, with good SQ.

You do know what u are getting into right? Its best you just change to a 2-way speaker with a passive x-over, may be an amp and leave it as such. ICE is very poisonous. If u get bitten, the poison will spread at an alarming rate, not to mention Vitamin M getting depleted at the same alarming rate. If I were u I would stay far away from ppl who are into ICE, they are bad,like me....wahahahaha.

Hahaha...sure I do know...but there, done that...that's why I was looking for something simple plug and play.

 

Actually I went down to Xremez Audio and got the Focal 165is installed. For a basic component set, I'd say its pretty good value. Getting the installation right helps to extract the best from the set. The only thing I lack now is the deep bass.

Back to TS question: I think it depends on how competent the HU is. If it good, then the 3 way will go well.

 

If the amp section is average, then the amp>2 way is a better option. Basic amp also has a wide range. If you look for a good 2nd hand amp (there are plenty), I think you will get a setup this way. For the 2 way comp, I highly recommend and am using the Focal PS165FX.
