Car hesitates/pull-back when accelerate

Sounds like ignition coils. If the vehicle has more than 110K km on the clock, you should replace them. Not sure how much for Toyota, but it is about $110 each for Volvo.

 

If you want to save some money, take out individual coils (one at a time) from the plug and attached a spare spark plug and rev the engine. If no sparks or intermittent sparks, then that coil is gone. Just replace that coil. But usually others will fail within months.

 

Or check engine fault codes - it will tell you which engine misfire.

Unlikely - air filter has negligible impact on the engine, not like this anyway - jerking/hiccups.

It worked after I replaced only the coil, so I did not touch the wires (which are low voltage so likely to last much longer)....

 

The fault codes MAY be stored even thought the CEL is off. If you have one of those cheap OBD scanner bought over the internet then it may help you save some time in diagnosing the culprit.

Hey guys, im driving a vios and for the past few weeks, my car will start to hesitate especially when i accelerate hard from stop. The feeling is like it will pull you back and then regain back its power. It will not happen if i accelerate slowly. Thanks for any help.

 

 

Yrs likely is ignition timing n air/fuel issues.

 

Have them checked first.
