Mobile1 1st Gear July 18, 2003 Share July 18, 2003 If i top up the coolant with normal tap water what will happened? Got what negative effects?
Modeldriver Neutral Newbie July 18, 2003 Share July 18, 2003 (edited) I figure then it'll reduce the effectiveness of the mixture - since it's supposed to be all prepared with some treated water etc. Probably won't have any real bad impact to the engine - other than not as cool ? Of course, at $37 a bottle, I'm not about to try. Edited July 18, 2003 by Modeldriver
Cool Neutral Newbie July 18, 2003 Share July 18, 2003 No negative effect, best is Distile water, contains no sodium..c

Modeldriver Neutral Newbie July 19, 2003 Share July 19, 2003 No negative effect, best is Distile water, contains no sodium..c Yah... but after spending > $100 to fill up the radiator, with still some left over - I'd finish that first before putting in water
Modeldriver Neutral Newbie July 19, 2003 Share July 19, 2003 No lah... that's for not coming to meet ups... his bimmer has gone to the car park in the sky... he's now got a very chio looking Saab with 18" wheels.
Cool Neutral Newbie July 19, 2003 Share July 19, 2003 Your maths wrong lar.. Distile water -> Watson $1.20 per litre, lets say you need 6 litres.. => $7.20 WetWatter -> $26, you use only half, can share with 2 cars.. Of course, I am using the old coolant which changed at 40,000KM.. if to do it neat, it is cheap.
Cool Neutral Newbie July 19, 2003 Share July 19, 2003 Manual says very 80,000Km (That is in Japoon whether).. I kiasee, do it very 40,000KM. Oil change I do it very 8000 or 9000KM
Andrewkb Neutral Newbie July 19, 2003 Share July 19, 2003 Err .. he meant he spent $100+ on Engine ICE for his car !!
Modeldriver Neutral Newbie July 20, 2003 Share July 20, 2003 Sigh... I put all engine ice in - had to buy 3 bottles - $37 each. If I'd know it took so many, would have thought twice before agreeing to it.
Modeldriver Neutral Newbie July 20, 2003 Share July 20, 2003 Well that makes me even worse - already changed at less than 20K - but then did that when I did up the thermostat. Oil change about the same, except the occasion when I had some problem with cyclone so had to flush one extra time ahead of time.
Mavvy Clutched July 20, 2003 Share July 20, 2003 Wah... impressed man... at least U do the clean water bit. Dun even have time to do that man. perhaps I still enthusiastic with new car..hahaha.. ↡ Advertisement
