Forester OMV is low at abt $17K 2L engine for a 1500 kg car for $117k.

Comparing with competition

Omv abt $20K 1.5L engine for a 1200kg car for $112k.

I'm seriously tearing my brains and heart...always wanted a forester. But my brain always says no.

huh?

I have been using RP 20w50 HPS in my current Subaru for a few years. Engine has no discernable oil leak/loss after few K km hard driving in Msia.

perhaps it is not the oil that caused the leak in your experience.

I was using the 5w30 HPS. Great oil, dark purple colour even my mechanic also double confirm with me before pouring in. Lol. Maybe it was a coincidence that both my Altis and civic had leaks.

stockists selling 300v for abt SGD23/L. It goes for less during sale n bulk purchase.

My fxt need 5.1L for a full drain and top up. Gonna cost around $100... Very ex engine oil. So I tot MI offer at $70 plus sounds good.

Erm, what has the weight of the car gotta do with omv? Forester is a awd mid size suv/ crossover with proper rear independent suspension. Those 1.5L compact cross overs are fwd with rear torsion beam setup. Totally different categories of vehicles leh.

For eg my fxt omv is 19,700 and I bought it for $120k. For the price, performance, safety and interior space, got competition meh??? Ok la the weight is 1.67ton lor.

I go to Toa Payoh too, and Kelvin does seem to be a great guy who does his best. He's the one who showed me the 3M panel samples, but he's also the one who couldn't give me exact product info, though I asked him to check and get back to me (he never did). Maybe he did check, and that's why he could tell you, lol. Hmm, engine oil that's supposed to make your call feel like crap right after an oil change, when it's supposed to feel the best. Interesting. Hai, I'd better not comment further, bro.

Comment la. Ok one. Actually I should have top up $17+ to try their mirt oil hor. Dunno wat I thinking. Lol. After spending $600 plus on door sound proofing I go and save $17. Hmm at least I can use it to pay for my grabcar rides. Lol

WA, MI just made a fat profit out of me. Lol...

I can't possibly check the interior of the door panels. I only checked that all panels are properly clipped in place. Lol and after knocking all over the 4 panels , it sound like the pad was uniformly applied. Personally, I didn't had good experience with stp products. But they do looked a whole lot impressive compared to the 3m ones.

It's okay bro, I've decides there's no way I'm DIYing sound insulation (lazy, sian, etc) either so someone's going to make a fat profit from me too. Bo pian.

Yup, I remember you did STP Silver before. And I take it this 3M installation's turned out far more effective than that one. I've heard that our Subaru door panels are actually quite easy to remove to check stuff but dunno how true.

I just don't like the way MI's bullying us into using heavy oils by using FUD. Yar, try the Mirt next time and give us your review leh. My review for Motul H-Tech 100 Plus 0W20 is that it's pretty awesome, heh.

Why get hung up on OMV? Yes, you get half back when you scrap, but a $3k difference in OMV works out to only $1.5k more in PARF rebate. So as long as the locally-installed stuff MI gives you is worth more than $1.5k (and it is), then net net you're ahead. Personally, I think MI's approach to minimising OMV's fine.

Hypersonic

It's normal. The holes are for securing the mud flap which is an optional item.

Here is the photo from my car.

Seems like an impressive DIY. Got video or life streaming ?

If done on Forester XT, mind to help out Bros here ? Ie : tools needed, what to watch out for ? Etc.

Here you go, give you some insight on how easy it is for the door panel to be remove.

How to embed YouTube video?

Hi all ,

Been reading this forum.

Currently driving Volvo S60 ,,looking for suv, have not own before, looking for something different.

Test drove the forester 2.0xt, Audi q3, BMW X1, qasqhai, xtrail....

Finally decided on forester, the Nissan xtrail a little breathless, q3 is very plain n bare bone, X1 is nice but drive is not as nice. Besides xtrail, q3 is 30+k more n X1 is $60k more, list price to list price compare, not worth that kind of dollar.

From drive and feature perspective, it's paying for the batch mostly, but finishing is much better in the German camp, especially x1, but not worth even taking that into consideration. Also looked at q5, n x3, both exiting model and 100+k more....

One more thing, Audi SE ask me to try the brand new a4, actually it's rather good, even the 1.4 is quite good,,finishing is much much better than q3, price same as q3, make the q3 look even worse, but not looking for sedan.

Forester, especially the xt is well equipped and finishing and built is not bad at all, not too shabby considering the huge price difference, with a more superior drive and power, the huge price difference gets even wider and make the premium German camp looks even more "poor proposition"

Anyway to each his own, that just my 2 cents.

So booked the xt, at $126800 after all so called discount

Non guarantee COE 8 bids

COE rebate is at $50000

Pearl white Color

Change leather to red, not Chilli red but a darker little brownish red

Added front and back camera.

Freebie, not much...gotten 3A matt and manage to get SE to throw in auto fold for door mirror.

Was told by SE, latest registered customer the OMV is $20555, due to stronger yen, not sure how true.

Just check with owners here, what's the average number of bids under non guarantee scheme to successful.

I am a little puzzle with latest COE for CAT B at $57500, an increase of $1500 the price no change, how this will impact success rate of COE bidding.....though been owning few cars over the years still rather confuse how this stupid COE works, hahahaha

Driving xt for 2 weeks.... Happy so far so is missy and kids....

Quite loaded with features and turbo is powerful

Tested Q5 too but put put off by Audi Se answer to my question why no lane departure and blind side detection.his answer was audi designed for autobahn hence no need for city safety features,,,,,!

8 bid NG too.got it at 2nd round...

Xt model has more margins so at ur entry price can secure Coe easily unless coe go beyond 62k

Mine is 2 months + now, the best add-ons i did are the undercarriage coating, 4 door sound proof and auto fold mirrors. All done by MI. sorry for all the poisons :)

I even tried the X3. At 100k+ more, the ride sure feels more premium but it comes with a poorer sound system. Suspension felt stiffer and for the premium paid, u still experience more or less the same amount of body roll as the xt. the x3 xdrive doesn't do any magic for the extra 100k+ premium... Really not worth. Interior space is about same too.

I signed with 8 bids non-G, but got in 1 bid.

120k at 49k+ coe in may.

I see that u have tried quite a number of suv/crossovers before settling on the fxt. I did too. after trying out all, the verdict was... the fxt has no compettion. Not to say its the best suv in the world, but at the price bracket and feature list, there is nothing to compare with.

Good choice bro!

My friend ordered the manual base rex and will be get his car in aug/sept. He read that the auto cvt gearbox is quite weak if looking to do up the car.. Lets say up hp to abv 300 and torque to above 400nm.

Can i say the same for FXT CVT gearbox?

Previous Legacy 2.0GT already have DIT 300hp on CVT, no issue lah

What is the undercarriage coating for? Anti-rust? Thought all subframe etc are coated with anti rust and primed? All modern cars do.

Anyway what difference does it make?

Also seems the tyre size 225/55 R18 is difficult to find. The rim is 18 inches but the width is 7 inches, difficult, 7.5 will be better I feel.

Undercarriage coating with anti-rust from Clasani has 2 impacts: 1) Make u $290 poorer, 2) makes your car about 10kg heavier.

I will changing to Michelin Latitude 235/50/18 next time, but i think the bridgestones will last pretty long...

After doing undercarridge and door sound proof, now i feel the road noise more, hiaz .. lol must be the bridgestones!
