Saw the Forester grille in the glass display cabinet at Toa Payoh showroom. Not sure if it is the STI but it cost $600+.

So decided to diy myself with Plasti dip. The black plasti dip was sponsored by 1 forester forum bro here.

Looks awesome! Is it difficult to remove the parts for spraying?

From f30 to fxt, u gain some u lose some. It all depends on what y need. I got a friend driving f30 and I'm a regular passenger.

Power wise, both are quite equal as in butt feel. Dun just look at paper values. Fxt is 100kg plus heavier and has a mich worse drag coefficient... The way a f30 pick up speeds still feels more direct and engaging due to its marvelous 8 speed gb. Agility wise, f30 is king. It's handling is hard to match even for most sedans not to mention a tall vehicle like forester.

Interior cabin space for both driver and passengers I feel f30 dun lose out much. Fxt is taller so it has more head room. Fxt front seats more spacious but f30 has slightly better leg room at back.

F30 has a deeper boot but fxt has a much taller boot which is more versatile.

Well, there are more differences I can quote base in personal experiences but I too lazy to type all out.

Hope the above helps.

I used these link as a guide.

https://projects.geothunder.com/how-to-remove-the-front-grille-on-a-2014-or-newer-subaru-forester/

Bottom grille

1) You will need a Long and a Short philip magnetic head screw driver to remove the 4 screws.

2) Go into the centre hole and reach for the plastic tab at A or B. Pinch or push the plastic tab out of its locking hole.

3) Once either side of tab A or B is out, just pull the grille from the front in the following manner A,C,D,B or B,D,C,A to remove it.

4) With the whole grille out, remove the tabs on the chrome part with a small flat head screw driver.

**The difficult part was removing the plastic tab for the first time. It was really tight. Subsequent removing the plastic tab will not be as tight. Just pull the grille from 1 side and it will be out.

Top grille chrome removal

After you have removed the subaru emblem grille as per the link.

1) Remove the 2 nuts securing the Chrome grille.

2) There are 7 or 8 blue plastic clips securing the chrome grille to the Hood. Just pull it out with some force and the grille will be out.

**On the first attempt you may fear breaking the chrome grille as you are unsure. Just pull it out and all the blue clips will pop out. You will know what I meant when you try it.

Quick question.

When in reverse gear.

I see only 1 white light at rear.

Did 1 bulb blow or is this a feature.

Thanks.

Normal lah.

This is normal. Only 1.

BTW, i find it excruciatingly painful with this combo: LED headlights but normal halogen for the fog and rear plate lights.

Thinking of changing them. Any idea where can this be done and rough cost?
