Hi Newkid,

No secret and it is 1180 under promo from local distro, United, which you can find in mycarforum mkt.

For me if I am getting, I will go ebay's german seller cos it is 750 with shipping +7% gst or about sgd800 since I have diagnostic tool to clear error if any but if you are beginner, betta get from United who can solve any problem and they will help removed 2-3 a year before going to service at MI.

Cheers.

Richard

Yes sir, useful advise again. Thanks Richard!

Hypersonic

Thanks bro.

I think you could be spot on, the hissing sound is most apparent.

Hopefully, it's a quick fix as I don't intend to leave for ride at MI for more than half a day. (Fyi, my previous Toyota lasted 10 years and the aircon still going strong with no breakdowns)

Don't expect to complete in half a day.

I send in my car to MI tpy 8am. Only ready 7pm.

Maybe leng kee got better chance.

I had some bad experience with piggyback with errors popping up every now and then on my ex ride. What piggyback does is to modify the sensors readings and trick the ecu to run on a different setting. Sometimes ur ecu will know the change and compensate back the settings and you will have these very messed up settings. I got sick of it and revert back to stock before trying reflashing the ecu. Never look back since. Ecu reflash is more stable since you are using the stock ecu. More control and can always revert to stock settings if you do not like it. Hardcore ppl will go for a standalone with additional sensors. Ecu reflash is getting more popular with modern cars. And i prefer it coz there is no need for additional or modification to stock engine harness.

Its been a few years since i last touched piggback. Technology may have improved.but at the end of the day, choose your tuner wisely.

Adding onto the discussion... It seems that the power delivery and max output from FXT is much different from WRX. There are some differences in the engine internal components.

Why not upgrade the internal parts for the FXT FA20DIT to WRX FA20DIT? Afterwhich, the ECU tuning will attain higher power gains?

Else, it seems that just plainly on ECU tuning; the gains might be very minimal. Else, it is just "shifting" of the peak power output to high or lower end of the graph...

Or we could just load in WRX engine with its ECU... I guessed that its more troublefree that way!!!

Damn cheap!!! RMB 13800.00 only!!!

Hi KC,

Guess you are kidding on engine swap ...

Even if you can do this and have no trouble mechanically or electronic which is 0.000001% of the chance with local workshops, please ensure that if you ever knock anyone down that:

1.  victim is not medical, law or scholar from some elite schools or rich parent ...

2.  if not already dead and only possibly paralysed, reverse your forester and the run victim down again to ensure he/she is dead 101% ....

Reason is that if not and you are charged with civil suit, you will have to spend rest of your life feeding and caring for victim on potential loss of living since your insurance company will not be paying for it ... lol !

Cheers,

Richard

Hi Richard,

haha... So far, myself did not consider increasing on the power output of the engine. As yet to master the vehicle at all.

In Singapore context... I would assume that to have more power, the easiest and safest way is to buy a higher powered car!

haha... I am currently quite contented with FXT. It is like 2 litre with 3.5 litre power output. What more to ask for now?

Perhaps, some years down the road. If financial allows, get a GTR!!! That is provided if manufacturers still offer powerful petrol engines and cost of car ownership remains.

Thank you.

Best regards,

K. C.

Hi Richard,

haha... But again, I am thinking:

Engines

(e.g. replacement of old or irreparable engine to a new or reconditioned engine.)

1459311710465.png

LTA allows changing of engines provided that it is of the same type as the original one. Therefore, LTA would require the following to be submitted for evaluation:

New or reconditioned engines

a) Invoice or bill of sales from the supplier of the replacement engine.

b) Certification from vehicle manufacturer or the local sole agent stating that the replacement is of the same type as the original one.

If its possible too... As there is another higher output of FA20F for Forester...

Thank you.

Best regards,

K. C.

Hi KC,

Nice find ... but one thing I dun appreciate about this engine is the slight but ever present lateral "rumble" or vibration which vertically mounted engine mounts and suspension cannot eliminate and subaru kaki expert with subaru cars for last 30 yrs says must accept one.

Was considering but finger and pocket too weak to shoot .. still holding back this cox damper by yamaha used in lexus due to high cost at sgd1.5k unless I go crazy on weaker moments ..keke:

Hi Savvy,

Lol .. but your expectation with any AD service center, including MI, also a bit high leh.

Cheers.

actually Legacy BR/BM tuned by STi version was 300BHP and 400NM right? and they didn't mention using special CVT... so likely the CVT can take it in Forester?

Hi Sarion,

Seems even Japan forester ts sj is 276bhp and same 350Nm or 258TQ vs our 242bhp and quite far from 300bhp and 400Nm ... reason for them to keep to same 350Nm which kills transmission ?

Haha... AD is specialist of their served brands/models, they have the right equipment, skills and experience, therefore wouldn't it justify the very least of my expectation (not to mention the inflated price yet ;)

Hi Savvy,

I resigned to leaving my car at 8 am and collect end of the day and lived happy ever after.

AD service center is iron rice bowl compared to outside owner type ws which fast fast means bigger paycheck .. different leh.

But clear advantage as you mentioned with the specialised tools and parts as well as AD access only service bulletins and software patches that I wish for as well as less trouble with warranty ... hence AD bias.

Also enuff bad experience with outside ws that at most dun take your biz if they cannot solve complex electrical or even mechanical issues .. also LL with our 100k+ "investment" whilst AD LL must solve for you one. It is like insurance and you pay for what you want and I like world peace ..lol !

Cheers.

Depends on the queue that day too. Queue longer means longer wait.

Hi Richard,

It seems that the Cox damper would be able to assist in achieving the refinement of the vehicle!

I am abit surprised by you! Especially when you mention that you held back and need to go crazy before you are able to make the purchase!

Why not; first, write to them to seek for the installation diagram or manual? So we are able to assess the usefulness? Ask for discount in second stage? Third, if possible; group buy!!! haha...

Anyway, with your knowledge and qualifications in physics; wouldn't you agree with me that it would be good to isolate the vibrations created from the engine? The benefits would be numerous!

For me; as I had not collected my vehicle. I had no way to tell how bad is the lateral vibrations...

Thank you.

Best regards,

K. C.

haha... At times, AD method of resolution.... Put everything back to original condition. no mods. No extras. Then problem will be solved.
