Thinking of getting a new car, budget about $80,000. The Vios was shortlisted as one of the potential cars, any other cars you guys would recommend?

The new Nissan Almera looks pretty good. But i contacted Tan Chong recently and they say not bringing in :(.

Didnt know there is new almera?! Interior finally no more looks like 90s design. 😂

My budget $80-ish thousand...Vios is about $82k now. You're driving a Vios as well? Is it the 2018 version, any honest reviews out there?

I am nto driving a vios but my colleague is driving which bought in 2019. Never hear my colleague complain. I think you would never go wrong getting a toyota? Lol.

80+ get a honda shuttle instead much more spacious and better drive experience

I bought a new vios E grade back in 2018 dec for around ~72k.  It's bread and butter car, no issues so far. Heard that vios now comes with Apple carplay.

I prefer a 'sportier' looking car, hence not really considering the shuttle.. Haha. Was thinking about the new fit/jazz, but the front super ugly (no offence to anyone).. Lol. 

So it was the Vios, easier to 'decorate'... The Cerato and Advante did cross my mind, cos still within budget. But the upkeep alil high, I don't need a 1.6.

Vios so ex nowadays?😬

I paid 52k back then in 2006.

It was the first generation ( first face lift). Prior it was known as soluna. 

Good car. Never failed me except for normal wear and tear maintenance. I even mod up the car by changing it to the push start, auto door. Remote booth releasee. Sound proof the four wheel arch and four doors. Michelin tyres xm2 through out it lifespan. 

Good car.

Remembered 70k to 80k was altis price range. 🤭

Anybody got 'zhng' their Vios here? If i so decide to get a Vios, am thinking of changing the stock 15" rims to either a 16 or 17 inch. Anyone here has done that before? Can share on whether it has any real adverse effects on fuel consumption/handling. I am doing it mostly for looks only..haah.

Yes. Corolla(altis) if I remembered correctly.  Camry close to 90k. Altis around 70k plus and vios 50k plus.

Back then those were the sedan available at borneo. No pirus yet. A year or two later (I don't remember the timeline) when taxi started to use hybrid than you can see pirus at borneo. 

Also ..I remembered seeing a crown at borneo. Probably old model.

Also borneo coffee machine the worse at leng Kee. Best still VW. 😄

16 to 17 make good look sporty.

But do you really need to upsize you rim? Bearing in mind vios is an economic vehicle giving low fuel consumption and easy / cheap maintenance. 

Changing of you rim size will have complications when come serving/maintenance. 

Borneo allow upsize of rim?

Yup, Checked with Borneo. Sales person said changing of rim-size is widely common. As long as the rims is not so big such that it comes into contact with the car and create damage, warranty is not void. 

I'm thinking upping from 15 inch to 16 inch, will it create alot of difference in fuel consumption/handling? Anyone here had done so?

The price difference between vios and altis quite close nowadays, doesn't makes sense to get the vios. Personally would go for shuttle which is more worth, if not pay another 10k++ for the altis

I still can remember the exact price I paid, $60972 1st gen also, year 2005, after that the following year the car price becomes very cheap due to low COE. Got one time dropped till  slightly below 50k. Spent almost 20k mod including sunroof and 5-6k of ICE, those were the days for 1st ride. Now got car to drive contented already, no need spend so much 😁
