Coolant question

bro...u say collant lower...just top up wif water....tap water can???

or must be distilled water like the battery water?

 

just saw this thread.

 

i think some battery is slightly acidic. you need to check whether it is battery water or distill water. personally i think battery water is not good for radiator, as the acidic will probably attack metals parts.

1. if u see reservior low top up with distilled water will do

2. Drop in coolnt level how would we know by the colour can see from the reserve tank

3. if no 2 is correct how would we know if we need to top up in the radiator

4. does workshop help in flushing the radiator or they will do it during servicing

Hi Mantaone,

 

Topping up with some distilled water is fine, unless you're loosing coolant at a frequent rate, then the coolant may become overdiluted over time and there's probably a larger problem in the cooling system that's leaking coolant.

 

The expansion tank is a good indicator of coolant levels and can be used to monitor and top up.

 

Workshop usually don't change coolant let alone flush unless instructed to.
