During a recent work trip to Canberra, my colleague swear to never complain that food is ex in Singapore. Over there a plate of fried rice easily AUD18. Very very difficult to get a meal for less than AUD10. Even value meals in those fast food restaurants also easily AUD12, and they do not have kopitiam stalls serving mixed vege rice at $4 to $5. I am not condoning any unreasonable price hike, but comparing to other countries we are very fortunate as is.

I been to Bangkok and a mountainous resort there just before Covid hit us, really not comparable to over here in terms of living quality. More fair to compare to developed places. Heard that Bangkok is no longer as cheap as before in recent months due to inflation that went out of control, even catching up with us on certain aspects like food and shopping. Anyway I am not here to win any arguments lah, just to remind that our food is actually quite cheap that's all.

Many food stall take the CNY opportunity period to increase price, and then price no come down liao. My regular fishball noodle stall that i eat increased another $0.50. Few months ago already increased $0.50.

What to do, same same also just had fishball noodle today for dinner, last year was $3 then increase to $3.5 now is $4.

For me just keep it simple - those with reasonable price jiak, if anyhow charge avoid, expensive feel not as worth the price jiak less or long long jiak one time. 🤣

Food sellers should consult Government and get approval before increasing prices, says Stomper

Sharing a photo of a prawn noodle stall in a coffee shop at Block 824 Tampines Street 81, he said: "The Government increased GST by 1 per cent. The food seller increased prices by $1. Now the minimum price is $5.
