I had a bad experience where ChatGPT produced the correct explanations, correct formulas, and identified the correct values, and yet after producing the correct equation, calculated the wrong answer. I checked everything except the calculation, because I assumed that's the easiest part, surely it won't get that wrong. I'm kinda leaning toward the M6 but being an analytical person, I like to run the numbers, check the facts, etc. 🙂 I had thought it was a given that an EV is going to cost less than a Hybrid (electricity vs petrol cost), and I guess I just learned this isn't so simple! I suppose the best scenario is for landed property owners who can charge at home at < 30 cents per kWh. (I know there's also the 25% discount for charging for BYD owners... that will move the cost in the M6's favour.) Is cost your only consideration? If so, i would say you don't have to be too perturb by this. Many factors will affect cost of ownership in the long term, petrol price, electricity price, potential changes to the tax structure to entice adoption of EV, car maintenance/breakdown... You like the drive of which car better? or which car suits your lifestyle better? my friend was interested at the M6 but moved on to another model after he knew it was not using rear sliding door, which is a main concern for him. lol
CapitalLETTER Clutched April 13 Share April 13 Hi guys.. May I know what are your typical insurance yearly? I was at BYD showroom looking at M6. SE told me around $1500 to $1700 yearly. I am now 40yo, 50% NCD. TIA!
Estrangable 5th Gear May 14 Share May 14 gotten my M6 recently. decent car, great features. Managed to clock close to 500km from 100% to about 15% with eco mode and regenerative braking settings set to high. question to all the EV experts here - will there be any issue to install my previous eton DSP on this new ride... will there be an issue with the warranty? thanks!
Ake109 6th Gear August 14 Share August 14 Why why why must all of the manufacturers/dealers nerf the motors to 100kW instead of 110kW when they bring into Singapore? TMD we already so cham, still want poke our backside with another -10kW.

Tohto Hypersonic August 16 Share August 16 (edited) 1st time riding the BYD M6 as front passenger on a Grab. Very comfortable ride and quiet. Don't feel under power when the driver move off with total 3 passengers, very smooth ride. Later took another Grab on a Toyota Sienta hybrid, noisy, screaming CVT noise, not so comfortable ride. BYD M6 is a obvious choice between this 2 for me. Edited August 16 by Tohto
Fellows 4th Gear October 8 Share October 8 (edited) I know someone who bought a BYD M6 at the Car@Expo in September 2025 for around $170K, even when COE prices were at an all-time high. Some people really go and buy just because of FOMO over the EV incentives ending on 31 December 2025. Honestly, even with reduced incentives next year, BYD will still find a way to price their cars aggressively to stay as Singapore’s No.1 brand and both the company and their sales team will continue to profit. steveting99 2nd Gear October 8 Share October 8 @Fellows New ride sellers in Singapore have a lucrative business. They have the magic coin and when flipping their rides to Singaporeans - it always comes out with heads I win, tails you loose result. 🤡 This is how they make their triple digit margins and squeeze the goose that lays the golden eggs for them. 🤑 Singaporeans are willing participants (i.e the goose) in the shake down.🫣

In fact, I'd go as far as to say that cars like the Cat A BYD Seal 6 (which is their basic entry sedan), is quieter and feels more planted, powerful and responsive than my previous G20 BMW 320i in city driving. Yes, an EV using hp as a metric, is like comparing a turbo diesel to a petrol engined vehicle. In fact when it comes to just looking at hp numbers, the acceleration would be 100hp EV > 100hp diesel > 100hp petrol. If the digital power output display is accurate on my SL7, the 0-60kph acceleration, using just 60 to 80 kW output (based on display), my old B58 3.0 turbo, would need to drag to ~4k rpm on near full throttle to beat, and that was a ICE with damn good torque curve already. (based on butt dyno) I only test drove, but the MG S5 with 100kW vs the Aion V 100kW, the S5 feels much faster.
