The 1st generation 2025 model of BYD's M9 has already gone through a new revision. 

The 2nd generation 2026 model has the same dimensions on the exterior.

Length: 5,145mm

Width: 1,970mm

Height: 1,805mm

Wheelbase is the same at 3,045mm.

19" alloys wheels provides good efficiency and the turning radius is a reasonable 5.7m. Suspension system now includes BYD’s DiSus-C intelligent damping suspension, which incorporates predictive road scanning, to minimize body motion and enhance stability. The system includes an “anti-motion sickness” algorithm. In Singapore, the DiSus-C is normally reserved for the high end Denza D9 Grandeur model. Nice to see this technology trickling down to B&B rides as well.👍

All M9 variants come with Tire Burst Control (TBC) and Vehicle to Load (VTL) external power output capability.  

Uses the same 1.5L turbo petrol engine that produces 115kW of power and 225Nm of torque. It's combined with a 200kW electric motor with 315Nm of torque in a front wheel drive configuration in a hybrid setup that is now in it's fifth generation. The top trim M9 comes with a 36.6kWhr battery as a PHEV, while the lower trims gets a smaller 20.39kWhr battery with a shorter electric range and lower fuel efficiency.

The 2026 model has managed to squeeze more electric range to 218km (+33km), has a higher fuel efficiency of 5.0L per 100km (-0.4 L per 100km) and increased overall driving range to 1,163 km (+103km) than the previous 1st generation. 

Can do the century sprint in around 8.5 seconds.

The M9's seating arrangement is 2+2+3 layout with seven adult capacity seats.

Sliding doors with a step in for the older generation into the 1st class second row seats. The top trim features BYD’s God’s Eye B system, which includes lidar (most likely not be available in Singapore), along with city navigation assist and enhanced autonomous parking capabilities. The autonomous parking feature is nice to have here in Singapore for large MPVs. Mid trims retain God’s Eye C, supporting highway driving assist. Has sentry mode feature to record what's happening around the vehicle when parked.

Front seats looks very comfortable with lots of adjustments. Has heating, cooling and massage features.

  

The instrument panel consists of flat bottom steering wheel with drive selection at the column. There's physical buttons below the 15.6" infotainment screen - hooray!  There's a 12.3" instrument screen, with the top trim getting a Heads Up Display (HUD) of 26" and an 12.3" passenger entertainment screen.

The second row seats have heating, ventilation and massage functions. There's also ottomans with a zero gravity recline function.

Dual sunroofs with retractable sunshades.✌️Either a 12 or 24 speaker DiSound Dolby Atmos system is included, depending on the trim. Top end trim gets a 28 speaker configuration with detachable outdoor speaker.

There's also a 15.6" flip down rear screen for second and third row passengers. Can connect the Switch 2 to play games.

Flip down tray table behind the front seats looks sturdy.  Also comes with a fridge and can both heat and cool.

The third row of the M9 also offers some comfy features like heating and ventilating - most likely available on the highest end trim. 3rd row seats can also electrically recline. The rear cargo volume measures a decent 470L with the 3rd row up and expandable to 2,036 L with just two rows of seating.

The M9's rear seats can move 10 cm forward to enlarge the rear trunk space. A key feature is that the 3rd row also can be folded flat into the floor. It is a rare feature in the bread van class here in Singapore - see below.

The international RHD version of the M9 is already available in Brunei since February 2026.  International LHD versions of the M9 are already available in Mexico, Philippines and Vietnam.

If Sime Darby decides to bring the 2026 M9 into Malaysia and Singapore, it will compete very well against the Toyota triplets, Honda Steppie and Nissan Serena bread vans. The issue will be the features and price set by the AD. Might even take some sales from the MPV king - Toyota's Alphard / Vellfire. 

Can foresee the 2026 M9 being a popular PHV ride - efficiency of 5.0L per 100km is very good for a large MPV. BYD knows this and have the same called the Linghui M9 in another brand. This to preserve the BYD name.
