Brake upgrading

Hi all Bros/sis,

I'm driving ES8, until now still can't tahan the spongy brake feel .

Am thinking of upgrading to a aftermart brake. Heard lot of bros talking

about brembo max with performance brake pad.

Any recommendation: where to get it?

Whats price like?

I heard the Brembo Max sucks big time. They are not true Brembo brakes, but some low end brakes that paid Brembo to have their name branded on it. And it too good a brake pad you use, you can kiss those rotors good bye. Thats what I heard, dun take my words for it, but instead do check out before regretting. Saw it on SHC forum.

I suggest you look into fitting the stainless steel braided brake hose first..that will improve your brake feel.

 

If you are not satisfied, then i would suggest upgrading of brake pads for front and rear(if it is disc. You should see an improvement in braking. Make sure you choose the correct type, try to avoid any metallic compound type as it will 'eat' up your disc in double-quick time and also you will have 'squeal' noise.Just go for heavy duty ones like those from MINTEX, BENDIX etc.

 

just changing the brake disc would not do much in improving braking unless brake fade or brake 'overheating' is a problem for you. as the main purpose for changing brake disc is to improve the dissipation of heat from the contact between the brake pads and disc.

 

If your seriously considering a proper upgrade then, then you need to find a proper brake system upgrade designed for your car. Mixed and match is never a good deal..(hopefully our brake system of our cars are not designed with mix and match and trial theory.. )

 

the key is to determine just enough braking power for your car, not too little(obviously will not stop the car in time) not too much... (too much grip, too 'catchy' feel and then to lockup and might cause the lose of control

 

Improving a brake system need to be compliment with the tyres as stopping a car not only involves the brakes but the tyres too as it is the only contact to the road and how fast or slow you stop depends on the friction between the tyres and road too.

Well, thats what I heard. Thats also why me is staying away from those rotors. Looking at AEM, Project Meu, the "Real" Brembos or Endless. I wonder how are they too...... Zess is a new Jap rotors, wonder how good are they too...... Pretty cheap.

You haven't heard it all. Brembo Max are not cast slots, but cut slots. Unlike high performance rotors, which have the slots cast into it, they're cut after casting. The material used is not suitable for track use, but is adequate for road use.

That sounds like the way to go

I have driven an ES8 with Mintex pads before and I would say there is definitely no lack of braking power. If you want to firm up the feel subsequently, then go for the braided hoses.

Slots cast into the rotors are better than those cut after casting. Since you're only using it for normal driving, it's adequate to use cut slots.
