Andrewkb Neutral Newbie October 2, 2003 Author Share October 2, 2003 Hmm .. then how do you mount it ? by screws ? ↡ Advertisement
Andrewkb Neutral Newbie October 2, 2003 Author Share October 2, 2003 After looking at the picture for a good 5min .. I think I'll make a L-shape plate, mount using doubleside tape and secure using some cable ties. You think aluminum plate will do ?
Michel Neutral Newbie October 2, 2003 Share October 2, 2003 i haven't seen the Bimmer's up close and personal but i reckon it's of the same material as the mud guard. Maybe it's mounted like how bodykits are mounted onto the car.. Don't you think aluminium plat is a bit too 'flashy'? Scare people can't see you have one at the bottom, huh? Michel Neutral Newbie October 2, 2003 Share October 2, 2003 no wonder.. what if, due to wind force, your aluminium gets bent inwards?? I guess rubber-like material is used because of its flexibility.
Andrewkb Neutral Newbie October 3, 2003 Author Share October 3, 2003 Thought about it for a while again, went to see the Accord in the photo above (in the same carpark) ... If I use plastic, where to find a thick piece and how to mould it to shape ?
GDIzen Neutral Newbie October 3, 2003 Share October 3, 2003 (edited) I know but for E36 the air ducts are designed this way instead of the newer E46 which is designed below For the e46, its taking in air from the front bumper grille as well. Its just that its 'camoflaged' by the twin horizontal grille that many owners don't see it. I discovered it when I upgraded mine to 330i alu-grille. My 2cents worth! Andrewkb Neutral Newbie October 5, 2003 Author Share October 5, 2003 Today, bent under the car, trying to brainstorm how to make a front mud guard. To my surprise, I notice that my car also has the front mud guard !!! But much smaller in width, though thicker ... so I guess can pass this idea liao .... Michel Neutral Newbie October 5, 2003 Share October 5, 2003 Maybe you can make a bigger one over it...for better aerodynamic or whatever reason it should be????
Andrewkb Neutral Newbie October 5, 2003 Author Share October 5, 2003 No lah .. the original one is more like an angular "hump" ... rather than a flap ... will take a pic when free and post here ...

GDIzen Neutral Newbie October 9, 2003 Share October 9, 2003 I had a piece of Insulflex for the boot floor that I fabricated for the Bimmer, the old mat from the bimmer was only 5/8 of the VR's boot space! That's how much more... ↡ Advertisement
