The MXV8 is different category as 712, one is comfort whereas another is performance tire.nod.gif

Hi Eddie,

If you read the latest copy of wheels, torque, motoring and highway, there is a write up on the Bridgestone Turanza GR80s. In all 4 write ups, the writers say that it performed better than a "competitor's tyre" in a side by side trial. Highway actually identies that competitor's tyres and it's the MXV8s!

So, if you take the 4 mags at face value (bearing in mind that it was bridgestone which flew them to Japan for the side by side comparo), then you should go for the GR80s instead.

In my case, I was trying to decide between the GR80s and the MXV8s (that was before the 4 mags were published). Settled for GR80s when I went to CAS for servicing and found that they had the GR80s and were giving a 15% discount. Cost me about $95/tyre for the 195/65/15. This is compared to about $115 for the MXV8s or AVS dbs that I was quoted outside.

Compared to my previous eco-contacts... these are much better [thumbsup] !

p.s. don't think you should compare the MXV8s/GR80s with the 712s. The latter is a value for money performance tyre while the former are comfort based tyres.

I used the MXV8 before .... and its a very very noisy tyre. I cannot say the performance is outstanding.

I have thus switched to BF Goodrich ... much much better. They are made in Thailand though , if you dun mind the issue of course.

Each tyre 195/50/R15 is S$80.00 [nod][thumbsup]

On which part and after how many KM that is noisy? It is pretty quiet and comfortable to me and the passengers. I've been on performance tyres for quite a while, hence one thing I don't like about MXV8 (perhaps all comfort bias tyres) is they don't take cornering quietly. They like to scream when I perform steep cornering or cornering at higher speed. Otherwise, not bad for normal use and city roads sprint.

Regards,
