Hi,

Just send my car for 20,000km servicing and the bill amount was whopping $200 for using synthetic oil........Just normal servicing, somemore need to wait whole day [send in the morning and collect late evening]. A bit disappointed and not happy with the service.....

My friend was driving a Japanese car and nearly 2 years......Heard from him that his authorised agent charge him service feees consistently, less than $100 with mineral oil. If not wrong, he send his car to the agent for servicing 4-5 times already......

Workshop charges can be $60 ~ $100 depending on the type of synthetic oil inclusive of normal plugs too!! the charges will be less than $60 if use mineral oil........

With the significant price different charge by different party, I wonder is there any special service performed on my car??? I DOUBT SO!

Then, is there any gov party that protect car customers?????

So many confusion!!!!

Driving Korean car.........

To be fair, $200 could be a fair price but based on the their work like oil change, spark plugs, clean disc brake and other misc stuffs, its way too EXPENSIVE... Dont forget its just Korean car........

BMW charging $300 plus but do take note that their engine is fully computerised and hence its difficult to service and repair.....So, other mechanics may not have the expertise to do the service, leaving consumer no choice.....Hence, they charge premium...Also, BMW incur extremely high R&D costs and maybe charging high to recover their expenses.....Lastly, BMW is driven by rich people or trying to be "rich people".....{no offend). Hence, $300 is just a peanut to them..........

COnclusion, if compare BMW and Korean car, i feel the $200 servicing charges is too expensive because of the complexity of beemers, not korean car.......if dont compare, I feel the amount is material to me and hence expensive.......

Well...Am I right to make a assumption that you are driving a Hyundai because I know they charge around 140++ for 10k service and 190++ for 20k service...and the price alternates...well...I will say it probably 20% more expensive then outside...think you got to judge the level of service lor...do you think the service is good enough for you to pay the extra 20% or not lor....

Agents are generally known for cutthroating...

Gov. part to protect car customers??!!! Maybe you can try CASE but no guarantee.

that would largely depend on how does the breakdown of the service items.

what is changed? what are the price of the items?

i had my 10k service , cost me about 140+ for syn oil, copper plugs, filters..

workmanship is still free.

I heard someone said that we can actually bring our own engine oil and etc to Komocco when we go for servicing. They charge a premium for their engine oil.

What I know is the agent charge based on 3 types of packages ranging from $90 to $200....No detail price breakdown for their charges.......

For my 20,000km service, the major works are

- oil change using Shell Helix 5w-40 (my best estimates $80+ with original oil filter)

- plugs change ($15 ~ $20)

- clean brake pads (labour charge that should be free)

- minor works such other checking on your battery water, top up brake fluid, power steering, coolant.......check exhaust system..... (FOC labour charge)

In total, the amount should be $110 maximum......but they charges $200....Do take note that this $200 exclude air filter (another $25), flushing coolant ($25), balancing and rotation ($25)......

In addition, I experienced some unfix problems upon collection of the car......Kena 3 times already.......Til I shouted at them and they really apologise, worst I need to send the car to them again whole day....Wasting my time and energy....For example, my fog lamp bulb was changed [claimed by them] and upon collection, no light!!!!!!!! What the @$#$#

I agreed that CASE cannot help.......But at least there are some independent party like IDACS to assess the fair price of the agent........Just like a watchdog to protect customers...not control the price
