Carlover76 Neutral Newbie November 11, 2003 Share November 11, 2003 For my normal wiper, I am using the correct size which is 19" and 21" respectively but still juddering as for my Silicone wiper, I used 19" and 22" instead only judder at low speed but not at high speed. ↡ Advertisement
Genie47 1st Gear November 11, 2003 Share November 11, 2003 Then I dunno what is the problem. Can check the wiper mechanism since you said at high speed no problem. The slow might be too slow. Need more force.
Fireman 1st Gear November 20, 2003 Author Share November 20, 2003 Yo bro, not sure if you solve your juttering problem. Try Autoglym Car Glass Polish, the one with the blue label packing. CIF did work but not 100%. Only realised after a couple of raining sessions on my car. Got so fed up and nearly wanted to break my windscreen. So took on another advice from another forumer, Mivec, to use autoglym. So far, been testing it out during the last few days of rain and the wiper is still wiping real smooth. So I guess the problem is at last gone liao. Thanks to all the forumer here who gave me tips and advice on this prob. Hope this helps.
Andrew Neutral Newbie February 6, 2004 Share February 6, 2004 Hey....just recently encountered the same problem as you. I think its becos I waxed by windscreen. Anyway, my friend recommended that I use some alcohol to remove wax from the windscreen and the wiper blades. Seems to work. Alcohol purchased from Guardian pharmacy. Yes a terribly frustrating problem!
Jetcool 1st Gear February 8, 2004 Share February 8, 2004 If yr problem is caused by RainX, you can try contacting this guy who sells a self-packaged industrial cleaner at : [email protected]. Some of the TCS forumers have tried it and said it worked.
Fireman 1st Gear February 9, 2004 Author Share February 9, 2004 Thanks for the info. So far, my wiper juttering is in check. It also seems like the lesser I wax the car, the lesser the juttering.

Quikfire Neutral Newbie March 8, 2004 Share March 8, 2004 dejavu man.... was only thinking of posting a thread like this to advice fellow forumers when I saw your thread... so I am replying without reading the whole thread... hope i don't repeat too much wat others have said... FOR THE RECORD... IT IS DEFINITELY RAIN-X DAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEMS... I have RAIN-X for a long time, Rain-X is a good product... but not good for front windscreens... apply it only for your windows, side mirrors and rear windscreen. This will help visibility a lot when it is raining. But do not apply on front windscreen it will cause your wiper to shudder in no time... and eventually your wiper linkage WILL GIVE WAY... (I just replaced mine on SAT...) due to the vibration and stress... TRust me... its got nothing to do wif your wiper blade... And, the only way to "cure" this permanently is to replace the whole windscreen... give u a hint... it'll help is your insurance covers windscreen... Fireman 1st Gear March 8, 2004 Author Share March 8, 2004 ya .. all that I already know since living with the problem for almost 8 months. But so far, it is not juttering that much anymore as times goes by. Anyhow, when I got my ride, the screen already have such a problem but at that time, I have no idea why and then I tried rainx once. The rest is history. My insurance never cover windscreen. Skywalker Neutral Newbie March 8, 2004 Share March 8, 2004 Change the whole windscreen.... should be covered under insurance and will not factor as claim, why not?
Emiffy Neutral Newbie March 8, 2004 Share March 8, 2004 Previous car had Rain-X; same problems faced. Nothing worked - AutoGlym Glass Polish, Meguairs, industrial cleaning solvent . Finally a stone chip solved the problem. Replaced the glass and swore never to use Rain-X ever again. BTW, for normal cleaning, try AutoGlym Fast Glass. Works like a charm. And change wipers once a year.
Quikfire Neutral Newbie March 8, 2004 Share March 8, 2004 once bitten twice shy... your case's exactly the same as mine... only i dumber.... after i changed my first windscreen, i wasn't convinced and tried rainx in frontscreen a 2nd time.... that confirmed the problem and i prayed for stone to hit my windscreen after that.... Andrew Neutral Newbie March 9, 2004 Share March 9, 2004 Then I dunno what is the problem. Can check the wiper mechanism since you said at high speed no problem. The slow might be too slow. Need more force. =========================================================================== I've finally replaced my wipers...after it started making noise again last night in the rain....really couldn't stand it anymore. Tried getting the blade refills from autobacs...but they said it wouldn't fit my wipers. Know where else blade refills are available???...they're cheaper than the entire wiper assembly. Zolidlim Neutral Newbie March 13, 2004 Share March 13, 2004 Can we use those dishes green scrub on the windscreen? Have tried using Jif. It works But do not use the Autoglym Glass polish as it makes yr glass kinda too clean, thus producing friction between the wipers and screen it self.
Andrew Neutral Newbie March 13, 2004 Share March 13, 2004 There's got to be something wrong if your wipers can't wipe glass which is "too clean"...my understanding is that the rubber is coated to make it smooth over glass....if any form of coating on the windscreen is also required....it means there's probably something wrong with the blades...and should thus be changed.... I believe I finally understand why i was having so much problems with my blades....I waxed by windscreen. Wax contains solvents which probably damaged the protective coating on the wiper blades thus increasing the friction during operation. It is best to leave your windscreen alone i think....additives like Rain-X and other stuff could potentially damage the rubber, and reduce the lifespan of the wiper blades... Wiper blades are pretty fragile ↡ Advertisement
