Engine oil expiry

Does any know whether engine has expiry ?

 

I have a 4L bottle (not open) which I got about 3 Motor Shows ago. Din use cos normally send back to dealer for servicing.

according to shell, the helix ultra has 4yrs shelf life from manufacture date.

Thanks. The one I have is Caltax. Think more than 4 yrs already.

 

So is it advisible to use now ? what will likely happen to the engine is we used expired oil ?

dunno. never had the chance to keep oil for more than 1 yr. erm...but would u cook wif expired 4yr old cooking oil? dun take the risk, skali car lao sai....

I wonder Caltex can do likewise?

5-7yrs. I asked the Havoline sales rep before and they told me shelf life is about 5yrs.

 

That also depends whether you know the month/yr of manufacture to determine the "age" of the oil you have.

 

If the oil is sealed in the container, I don't see any harm running it.

ya cannot find the date of manufacture or expiry label. better dun use.
