Lillight Neutral Newbie April 8, 2002 Share April 8, 2002 Aiyo, you all can laugh, wait till you're like us really stuck in the saga. The only reason why I'm still sane is because we've decided to mentally write off the deposit, and expect nothing back. Take it as one of those things that happen in life. However, we'll still fight tooth and nail and do *everything* possible to recover the money (or get the car). Work for the best but expect the worst. Very painful, but what to do. I don't hate JTA for what happened - who wants to see their business go bust? But lots of businesses do, and it's a turn of fate that we're caught up in it. Maybe this is our big test - from our reaction and everything, we'll know very well what kind of people we are. I also sincerely believe that we ourselves will be judged on the last day just as we have judged others. So, justice and mercy, how will the two pan out eventually? It'll be something worth thinking about 20 years down the road, if we're still around and able to contemplate by then.
Spoof Neutral Newbie April 8, 2002 Share April 8, 2002 Very, very profound...But I think you're right...If you're able to mentally write off the deposit, that means you've achieved a certain level of 'tahan-ness' and have become more humble and less money-minded...Question is...Can you REALLY write off such a big amount in a context such as this??? It's not like you were mugged or something, where it's quite easy to write-off the amount...In this case, you were buying a car...A joyous and exciting event, and this is how it ended. That's why I think it's difficult to write-off the deposit...B'cos of the context...But you're right, if you can FORGET about your deposit (NOT that all hope is lost - don't get me wrong!) then you'd definitely have reached a greater level of maturity, and THAT is priceless. Hope all the pending orders get fulfilled... hope...hope...
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie April 8, 2002 Share April 8, 2002 We do apologize for joking about all who have deposits with JTA, we do hope U guys can work something out with Peter Kwee and gang to come to a certain agreement where they can promise some form of priority delivery or a discount for your loss to JTA. Good luck!

Lillight Neutral Newbie April 9, 2002 Share April 9, 2002 Hey, no worries, I found the jokes funny too! Humour is priceless. Maybe next time when I buy something I'll really con some lawyer friend to go along. After getting one to read the fine print at the back of our order agreement, she said it was really one-sided. That's something I never even thought about. Anyways. Thanks for your well wishes. I'm just wondering what's really happening - how come no real official announcements? All the BT reports seem to have been promulgated by Czech Auto... guess I'm still keeping hopes up. And funny, how come its all the fordees on this thread now? Magfocus 5th Gear April 9, 2002 Share April 9, 2002 Glad that you took that in a light hearted manner I dont think you'd really need a lawyer to go with you(unless it happens to be your frnd), just remember to read the agreement carefully, even if the sales person pressures you( happens all the time). I have always encountered time and time again sales tactics like :" If you book now, it would be lower by $1000 blah blah....." Hope that your outcome would be a positive one [angelic] One thing i like about this forum compared to many others is that its not make or model specific. You can own any brand or model of car and not be isolated
Mondeo Neutral Newbie April 9, 2002 Share April 9, 2002 ST always report the good news only, the tremendous affection not even to whole s'pore auto market, but also the S'pore economy. Will the COE still stand if not one buy car. If end up the company goes wrong (hope not), all of you should stand up and push the govt to get the deposit back on behalf. Of course, we want all of U can get the car finally, so we can discuss further more abt the car in this forum.

Like the recent one about how Toyota ppl are willing to eat into profits to boost sales vs. Nissan, the 'evil' profiteers ? Personally, it read like a 'planted' article, soft advertisement of sorts. Anyway, yeah, as for 'join-the-car-club' part, we're working on it - if only the COE would not go up so high and VAG won't increase pri....*grumble*, *grumble*.......
