Renegade Neutral Newbie April 10, 2002 Share April 10, 2002 So, shld ST have published the news ? After all, some would argue that the public would have the right to know such things. Anyway, I a bit ignorant - exactly how big was 'bigger' ?

Mondeo Neutral Newbie April 10, 2002 Share April 10, 2002 There's no should or shouldn't, freedom of media meant no restriction & barriers to report everything of the news. pple may argue that question in the street or on the net (like us), but definately will not on media--U think ST will report/publish that pple argue ST did not report JTA's case! I haven't seem yet so far.
Renegade Neutral Newbie April 10, 2002 Share April 10, 2002 Good point, really...btw, just heard someone mention that the BT news wasn't THAT official. Maybe that was reason for ST not publishing anything yet ?

Mondeo Neutral Newbie April 10, 2002 Share April 10, 2002 BT & ST, which one is more localise?! ST should know better than BT! Not official mean info could be incorrect, media got the right to find out the ture. JTA case has been happened, if there's any official annoucement out, I really worry for the pre-owners. Mondeo Neutral Newbie April 10, 2002 Share April 10, 2002 Yes, SPH control almost all newspapers in S'pore, Y BT knew the JTA case but ST doesn't!?
Fabiaman 1st Gear April 10, 2002 Author Share April 10, 2002 BT & ST share different group and team of reporters so in many events like IPO or listed company analyst briefings, you always see both BT & ST reporters present. Its friendly competition between the two of them. Its like 2 different companies but sharing the same parents and each is trying to outwit each other many instances. Also, they never share information or stories.
Mondeo Neutral Newbie April 11, 2002 Share April 11, 2002 OIC, so ST staff never read BT newspaper and dun know anything of JTA word, or they dun bother it.
Renegade Neutral Newbie April 11, 2002 Share April 11, 2002 Sounds like it, doesn't it ?
Fabiaman 1st Gear April 11, 2002 Author Share April 11, 2002 Oh, sure they do read each other's publication word by word. If its factual news like JTA close shop etc, most likely the other paper will need to carry the news sooner or later. But if its a commentary of some latest happenings in the market that no one has heard of yet, mostly the other paper will not carry the story. I am familiar because I know people on both sides. BTW, those ST & BT journalist that I know of are VERY NICE people! OIC, so ST staff never read BT newspaper and dun know anything of JTA word, or they dun bother it. Sotong Neutral Newbie April 12, 2002 Share April 12, 2002 Hey Fabiaman, U working/previously work for the press issit? So familiar with the way they work? Actually, some of the ST, TNP writers are my friends also. So I agree they are nice people :) But hor, feel that local journalists too spoilt. Dun have the instinctive nose for news. They just take whatever leads that come to them, or think of weird leads like how many food stalls apply for halal certificate
