Kia Rio

Almost test drive a Rio few weeks back as I was shopping with my dad for a car of that price range.

"Almost" because when we were openning and closing the back boot, we hear creaking sound like as if the joints are rusty already..... we "sian ji phua" (lost our enthusiasm) and walked out. It hard to buy in that range as we are budget conscious and yet so far cars in the budget range hasnt been too impressive ..... yet.

Anyone here drives a Kia Rio can share experience?

Hi there ... any luck with your car?

My 2 cents worth:

In terms of power, the Rio 1.5 (M) beats the Accent flat ... tried both cars ...

don't take my word for it ... cos I am a KIA sales rep with an authorised dealer ... but try the car out.

are you considering a 1.3 or 1.5?

the differences between the Rio 1.3 and 1.5:

MDP on the 1.5, SDP on the 1.3 [pirate]

DOHC for the 1.5, SOHC for the 1.3 [pirate]

boot catch and oil tank catch for the 1.5, for the 1.3, you gotto open the boot and oil tank with a key [pirate]

power windows for all 4 windows for the 1.5, for the 1.3, power windows only on the front 2 windows [pirate]

electronic side mirrors for the 1.5, manual for the 1.3 [pirate]

[pirate][pirate] By the way, the 1.5 (A) hatchback has just been discontinued. [pirate][pirate]

Feel free to call me at 98563775 if you need more information.

Have a pleasant drive. [:)]

Hi Keigo,

I thought it is best to hold back till the new model appears in June or July period.

Use to drive Accent and went to test drive both cars, my conclusion is Accent interior plastic is more repectable. I think since both cars are under Hyundai, engine performance should be the same.

Korean cars interior are improving as Optra and Cerato is quite impressive from the inside.

My question: Does Kia Rio meets the european safety standard?

Regards,
