Blue850r Clutched February 12, 2002 Share February 12, 2002 Can't tell you much. Used for about 300kms and then sold it off. I bought it because it is cheap and gave me a bigger width for the same price. Later I realised that tyre footprint on the ground is same as original size tyre, so no point to use a bigger tyre if I don't increase contact patch. The contact patch is more or less govern by the rim width. All I can say is usable. If you demand Ultra high performance in the class of SO-3, Falken GRB, Michelin Pilot Sport. Fabiaman 1st Gear February 12, 2002 Share February 12, 2002 Ha... a few of my reservist camp mates swear by it as they change their old Simex tyres with yes, NEW Simex tyres meaning that they are happy with it. Not sure is it because solely on the price or because of its price/performance balance. I think you can find Simex in some tyre shops in SIngapore as well.. but is probably more expensive than over the causeway.
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 13, 2002 Share February 13, 2002 In Malaysia most cheap tire sizes are around 13-15" (aka for Kancil and Proton) with the occasional 16" for the perdanas so don't bet on cheap 17" and above Simex as well, large rim sizes not popular in Malaysia (too many potholes! )
Tantt70 Neutral Newbie February 16, 2002 Author Share February 16, 2002 Tks Blue850r.. any idea how much the Simex tyres costs? Its more of a matter of risk reward now. Thanks.
Blue850r Clutched February 17, 2002 Share February 17, 2002 I bought my Simex 205/50VR16 at 100 bucks a piece at the tyre shop along Jalan Jurong Kechil, shop name is Lian Huat or something. The shop has very big Falken sign. Since I don't know whats your tyre size, you can estimate from my price. If you are using 15" or 14" tyres, there is 1 shop in Ubi that sells cheap Japanese parallel imported tyres. I think their shop is at Paya Ubi blk 53, unit #01-25 on the inside row. Can check them out, they advertise 175/70-13 $36.
