HI there,

I am new to this froum. Just purchased the new Mazda3 and require some sound advice..

1) Is it really necessary to put tinting or uv protection like vkool or huper optik and which is recommended?

2)Enhanced sound proofing, what is done and is it necessary too?.

3)Lastly, i believe all new cars will come with anti-rust protection right?..except for the undercarriage? Is necessary for that?.. [confused][:/]

I agreed with Turbobrick, you can forget about item (3), it's just another money down the drain as in SG, there's no need for it nod.gifnod.gifnod.gif

You can try the shops listed in the THERMAL/SOUND INSULATION SHOPS thread in the RESOURCES folder here

Tuff Kote Rust Proofing and Tuffi Sound Clad? Dun waste money.shakehead.gif It's juz part of the oversell for the SE to make extra $$commissions.

Actually it was me who wanted the Tuff Kote Rust proofing... the SE told me not necessary as the car is treated with anti-rust. However, always feel 'safer' when additional rust proofing is done.

Only thing that I was not comfortable with is Mazda will have someone drive the car to Sing Min, have the rust proofing done and bring it back for delivery. [shakehead][shakehead][shakehead]

As for the sound clad, was also my idea in case when I 'wake up from this dream'and I find the Mazda 6 is as 'noisy' as the Galant [:p]

So dose sound proofing really make a Mazda sounds like a Lexus from the inside? Comments appreciated.

Also between Huper Optik and V-Kool, any recommendation? Thanks [;)]

juz helping fellow MCFers to save $$ but it's up to the individual, i suppose. but frankly, unless u planning to keep the car for more than 10yrs, park outdoors next to the sea everyday, tuff-kote is not necessary. and as for the soundproofing, the spray on coating ain't gonna make it remotely close to a lexus.

Thanks! Appreciate your kind gesture [thumbsup] May just skipped it this time round [:p]

Still quite keen on the sound insulation. Perhaps not the spray on type but those that stick on insulating materials. [nod]

no worries, good to be realistic in expectations.wink.gif the underfloor insulation may dampen some of the higher pitch resonants but the low pitch road rumbling sound will still be there. plus, they'll hv to strip off doors, floor carpets to do that. (if u heart pain they drive your car to another workshop to apply the rust-proofing, u gonna bigcry.gif when u see what they do for this!). unfortunately, mazdas generally hv poorer NVH compared to other jap makes so it's comes wif the territory if u wanna zoom-zoom.

ooh... in that case, will try to live with the 'noise' and zoom zoom around for while and send it in for the sound job when i have enough [;)]

Anyway, when test driving the M6, me and my wife think is quieter than our current ride -Galant. But again, it could be just our own thinking to convince ourselves to change a car [:p]

Thanks again [thumbsup]
