Zrun Neutral Newbie February 11, 2004 Author Share February 11, 2004 Ok.. done with hijacking... For those who has used CDT, how does it compare with Infinity Kappa Perfect series? I've Infinity Kappa coax 6.5" 2 way and I quite like the sound of it, especially for midrange. What other components have you tried and recommend? Waipor Neutral Newbie February 11, 2004 Share February 11, 2004 currently running the classics in my car. cdts are generally very warm. pair them up with a good amp and u'll most probably cXm in your pants listening to female vocals. however i find them a little week in the mid-bass but may be compensated with a little eq tuning or crossing your subs a little higher depending on your setup. prefer them to most other speakers less horns http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/website/products/horns.html. personally, i find the kappas a little to hard for my ears. Redliner_sg Neutral Newbie February 12, 2004 Share February 12, 2004 (edited) The CDT ES are revealing, detailed, and fine resolution. Partner them with good equipment and they will reveal your system weaknesses, and highlight lesser equipment. Need a decent clean sounding amp with sufficient oomph to match, cos they are rated 150rms. Like Waipor said, they tend to be abit weaker in the midbass, to say compared to boston pros. But, they also need quite a long time to run in, so be patient for your midbass to bloom. Have heard the Kappas, but i think the ES are in a different class altogether. Maybe can compared to the HD. Zrun Neutral Newbie February 12, 2004 Author Share February 12, 2004 (edited) What type of music do you recommend listening with the classics? When you say warm, it sounds to me as the speaker might not be good for crisp and high frequency sounds. Even though I don't like pop music such as Britney Spears, I use it as a benchmark, as I like the system to sound good when a song with many different instruments is played, such as pop songs and esemble, etc. I guess I want the speaker to be able to sound out frequencies accurately in the mid to high range, so different instruments can be identified, but not over boost some frequencies. Waipor Neutral Newbie February 12, 2004 Share February 12, 2004 so when can i audition your new setup? i wish i had a little more power for my fronts and subs. but been too busy to pay any attention to them. so when can i listen to them speak? Waipor Neutral Newbie February 12, 2004 Share February 12, 2004 as long as u have the right setup, think they are good for anything. of course britney will sound very good in my car, so will many other women but that is a different topic. dont think that there is a need to over boost any freq to compensate for the lack of mid-bass. just run them in nice and slowly and a little tuning they should sound good. Its very different kind of sound from the titanium type of tweeters, which i choose to avoid. Been there with the Boston Pros, and now will stick to Silk Domes
Waipor Neutral Newbie February 12, 2004 Share February 12, 2004 as under powered as my setup? using yours as a benchmark lah. ↡ Advertisement
