Orge Clutched March 7, 2004 Share March 7, 2004 personally i do not own a vios... but i got a colleagues who got his vios late last november... his air con broke down within 2 weeks after he got his car... and he got it fix at BM the very day... last month his car broke down again... this time is something worst... his gear box got problem... his is automatic transmission... cannot reverse... and now i have to hear him grumble every now and then when we tok about his car... hahahaa... as for city... got a fren just got her coe for city... the car is yet to arrive yet... so hard to comment... but city is using similar engine as the jazz... just that the jazz is japan made and the city is from thailand... my boss just got his new jazz last month... think it is pretty good... goin well until now... but think city is a cool $4k more than the vios, however think city got better FC... 24km/l according to lab test... but the SE from kah motors says normal road drive should give u 18 to 20km/l, no problem... but i enquire about the city last week... the SE says if i order now, production for the car will onli start in thailand on late april... cos the order till end april are all full booked... so u gotta wait for a while for your car to arrive... as for vios, i called BM and book for an appointment... the lady who pick up my call wasn't very helpful... she said they are all busy and fully book till the 10th of march... her attitude kinda turn mi off... so i stuck vios off my shopping list... Vit4wd 1st Gear March 7, 2004 Share March 7, 2004 Regd the Vios problems, I am not surprised. Toyota is cutting its production costs, hence all these problems. It makes matters worse when they have a screwed up distributor in S'pore. My Made-in-japan G9 Corolla has had eth following problems in the past 24 months since new. 1. Power window faulty 2. All 4 door frame rubber warp. Borneo Motors refused to honour the 3 year warranty even though I send my car back to them for servicing and keep my car 100% stock. I only managed to have the faulty power window repaired. They refused to replace the damaged warped rubber seals, resulting in rain water entering my cabin during heavy rain and a hissing wind noise entering the cabin when travelling above 80km/h. Need I say more?
Toyo 1st Gear March 7, 2004 Share March 7, 2004 I have the same experience on the power window on my Soluna. 2 of my friends also faced the same problem with their corolla, 1 of them the G9. But it was fixed under warranty. For my case more headache. the switch to operate the window was also faulty and it took them 4 months to indent the switch. for 4 mths, I can't wind down the window and had to open the door to get the parking ticket. BoneStock 5th Gear March 8, 2004 Share March 8, 2004 Hi all, Anyone encounter problems with these 2 vehicle so far???? Heard Vios have lots of problem?? Just fyi, my 2G City just hit 3 years...so far so good. Done >70kkm only replacements are wipers, front brake pads and battery. I was also very concerned about city's quality since thai made, so I gathered some f/bs from frens who were driving 1G city before I finally bought one. No regrets so far. If you are getting city auto, better get more f/b from the bros here regarding the cvt tranny
Orge Clutched March 8, 2004 Share March 8, 2004 all cars comes with problems lah... cos now the trend now is to reduce production cost... heard from a car industry friend... eventually more and more cars will shift their production to thailand and even china... i guess unless you can afford a ferrari or rolls (cos they got their prestige reputation to keep, plus their customers are all super rich and super powerful figures)... there will always be some minor QC problems... even my friend who bought a merc also complained that his dashboard always got a warning light coming out for no reasons... Byktan Neutral Newbie March 8, 2004 Share March 8, 2004 Hi all, Anyone encounter problems with these 2 vehicle so far???? Heard Vios have lots of problem?? Vehicle problems depends on your luck. If you're lucky to get a good one, 10 yrs dirve also don't give you problem. So not necessary expensive cars or good cars won't give you problem. Many people have commmended and complains about the Vios problem but I still booked one for myself b'cos as like I say all this car problems depends on your luck. Most important choose and buy the car that you like. Make your own decision.

Dookie Neutral Newbie March 8, 2004 Share March 8, 2004 well... to me, jap or conti.. still have to depend on heng suay... but i'm surprised to hear so many problems on the Corolla, i can't imagine what the Altis will go through. But not being able to replace under warranty is really a concern. I only thought the sales attitude was bad... sheesh, the service also that bad??? Well, the salespeople in BM is really a bunch of .... (keep my mouth shut lah) turned me off with their bo chup attitude the last time, that's why Toyota was never my choice. Acemundo Supercharged March 8, 2004 Share March 8, 2004 which was what i believed all along.....but still a lot of naysayers predicting i will have a tough time with conti car. yep, i damn bluddy pissed me with bm sales staff also. if ever i decide to buy a toyota, i will do it online so that my commission won't go to those crap salesman. ↡ Advertisement
