Yttrium Neutral Newbie September 12, 2002 Share September 12, 2002 My front wheels were not balanced after new tyres were installed so I went back to get them rebalanced. However, they are still slightly out of balance and vibrate at about 90-100km/h. Does this mean I have to do high speed balancing? Anybody got any recommendations on where to do it and estimated cost? Thanks! ↡ Advertisement
Sky8807 1st Gear September 12, 2002 Share September 12, 2002 (edited) Go to another reputable tyre shop for balancing. Which area are you staying /working? Edited September 12, 2002 by Sky8807
Yttrium Neutral Newbie September 12, 2002 Author Share September 12, 2002 (edited) I stay and work in the west. Bukit Batok area... there are quite a few tyre shops around here. One of them quoted $45 for high speed balancing.. is that the market rate? And he seemed rather reluctant to do it for my friend, said its a last resort kinda thing coz it's "not good for the car" Edited September 12, 2002 by Yttrium

Sky8807 1st Gear September 12, 2002 Share September 12, 2002 There is a tyre shop at Bukit Timah 10 mile (opp 10 mile junction) that do good wheel balancing. If nothing wrong with the car except wheel balancing, sure can cure wan. No need to do any high speed balancing and waste money. I have confidence with this shop and can share with you my experience that after balance you can go top speed without any vibration. Check it out. cheers
Yttrium Neutral Newbie September 12, 2002 Author Share September 12, 2002 Thanks for the tip. That's somewhere near Gombak camp I suppose? Will check it out...
Yttrium Neutral Newbie September 12, 2002 Author Share September 12, 2002 (edited) I wouldn't mind trying.. but I'd prefer to get it balanced before I head up Malaysia. I'm not too bothered with it actually coz I seldom drive above a hundred on our local roads. Just want to get it balanced in case I'm heading north. Usually I take the N-S up to KL... but also shorter trips within Johore.. Thanks for the tip Edited September 12, 2002 by Yttrium

Hi! there, E46RadX, Arrow like that, how am I going to play badminton? I've almost completed fixing my car, in SG & JB, but car cannot float, so didn't do in Batam. You going for picnic izzit, better check the tide table, don't float away. Yttrium, I'm going over to JB on Sat., are you free to come along? I have to be there at 0800hrs or thereabouts. Sky8807 1st Gear September 12, 2002 Share September 12, 2002 It is at the traffic junction right at the corner. only was to enter the shop is through the slip road before the traffic juntion coming down from woodland road. If you are coming from Chua Chu kang and Teck Whye, you need to turn left at the 10 miles traffic junction(LRT terminal) after the railway crossing and make a u turn further up to get there. If you come from Upp Bukit Timah, likewise you also need to make a u turn. I recommend balance all four wheels.

Alisterlau Neutral Newbie September 13, 2002 Share September 13, 2002 Hi, I'm had the some problem every time I rotates my Tyres or do anything to my Tyres, the steering wheel will vibrate from 90kmh onward. Alway goes back to Stamford Tyre in Jurong, 19 Lok Yang Way, Jurong Singapore 628635 Tel: 262-3355 Fax: 262-1494. Ask them for ON-Wheel High Speed Balancing, and it solve my problem, even after 120kmh, no vibration. As far as I can remember, I paid about $20 per wheel, for normal car, just needs to do the front 2 wheels.
Yttrium Neutral Newbie September 13, 2002 Author Share September 13, 2002 FYI I got my Kumho 712 Ecsta 205/55/R15 from Leong Seng (Alexandra Rd) for $90. How much did they quote you for yours? That's where I went back to balance the wheels, abotu 3 weeks after I first installed them. They still can't seem to get it balanced... ↡ Advertisement
