Fuel pump

yesterday my car couldn't start. not no batt but the "fuel pump" spoiled. my mechanic tried to source for a second hand but couldn't find. later he came back with one, smaller.

 

My question is, will a smaller fuel pump effect anything?it is only slightly smaller...

It's not the size that counts, as long as it's pumping out the correct pressure to the fuel line.

 

There're alot of after-market fuel pumps, so it shouldn't be a problem getting a replacement.

The size doesnt matter, you need to know whats the capacity (in term of: gallon per hour or lit per hour) of your original fuel pump and compare with the smaller one. If the capacity is slighly smaller, its still acceptable.

Is yr car having Electronic fuel injection system ? For EFI system you have to get your mechanic to source one that meet the original pump minimum specifications. Forget about using a unit from the scrap yard as the condition is questionable - not worth the time and money.

thank you all.after a week drive, i found the power to be the same, but seems to consume less petrol...could the old one be faulty that's one it has been consuming so much petrol?
