Pamper and care for your car Although many car owners understand the need for timely vehicle maintenance and servicing, just as many also find the process troublesome. After all, you need to schedule not just the service itself, but also find pockets of time to drive the car to the workshop. But what if you could kill two birds with one stone by driving to an AutoServ at selected Shell stations? Shell AutoServ offers car owners the convenience of servicing their vehicle at a petrol kiosk near them. Receive expert car care and attention without the hassle of making separate trips to a traditional service centre. Shell AutoServe offers essential maintenance services to keep your vehicles running smoothly, giving motorists a peace of mind knowing their vehicles are in capable hands. What a convenient and efficient approach to car maintenance. Many Shell stations offer car washing services as well, a need for busy drivers out there. 2. Do u all feel that with the shift in our attention towards rising coe prices, we have forgotten how crazy petrol prices have become? Are we getting used to rising petrol prices too?
  3. Electric cars are known to be efficiency powerhouses, but how much can you really save? Charging an electric car will likely cost significantly less than filling up an ICE car with gasoline or diesel. But, how much can you save, and why is it cheaper to run on electrons than liquid fuel? Before looking at the price comparison, it's essential to understand that the lower ownership costs are not just about electricity versus gasoline prices. Here are some aspects of electric cars that yield lower overall fueling prices. Aerodynamics In typical gasoline cars, aerodynamics are essential but not typically of the utmost concern. Electric cars are different. Since batteries are the most expensive component in most EVs, they require a very slippery drag coefficient to maximize their range. As explained by AirShaper CEO Wouter Remmerie, a low drag coefficient is the key to allowing your EV to get the most amount of range. "If you double your speed, the aerodynamic force goes up by a factor of four," Remmerie told InsideEVs. Remerie estimated, "you can go 200km/h in a 200 horsepower sports car, but you need 1600 horsepower to go 400 [km/h]." While these numbers are far higher than typical U.S. highway speeds, it reveals that it's vital to master aerodynamics so EVs can travel on long highway stretches and still attain sufficient range. Overall Efficiency Unlike internal combustion cars, electric cars have the upper hand because they use far less energy. According to the Department of Energy (DOE), a typical gasoline car would have an efficiency (energy to the wheels) of less than 25%. This means that the other 75% of energy would be lost as heat or used in other internal combustion engine systems. Disregarding the benefits of regenerative braking, electric cars have an efficiency of over 65%. The other 35% is energy lost in charging and drive system losses (battery system cooling and heat). Regenerative Braking In traditional non-hybrid cars, deceleration is primarily done with their friction brakes. This means that lots of kinetic energy is simply wasted as heat. In hybrids and EVs, most braking is done through capturing kinetic energy and transferring it as electrical energy back into the battery pack. With this braking method, electric cars can recuperate energy back into the battery rather than wasting the energy as heat into the surroundings. According to the DOE, a typical EV's total efficiency (factoring in regen) is around 90% in the combined cycle. So, How Much Will You Save? While most articles will compare two of the best-selling EV and ICE sedans, like the Tesla Model 3 and the Toyota Camry, choosing two closely-sized and similarly-priced cars is far more realistic. The Toyota Corolla and the Nissan Leaf will be the two contenders in this comparison. The Nissan Leaf is the best-selling electric car that costs less than $30,000, and the Corolla was the second best-selling sedan this August (Car Pro USA). 2022 Toyota Corolla L (non-hybrid) $20,075 139 horsepower 30 city / 38 highway mpg 3.0 gallons / 100 miles 436-mile total range 2022 Nissan Leaf S 40kWh $27,400 ($19,900 incl. Federal tax credit) 147 horsepower 123 city / 99 highway mpge 30 kWh / 100 miles 150-mile total range To make this comparison fair, we will use the U.S. annual average mileage of 13,476 miles (U.S. Department of Transportation). We will also use the average U.S. home energy rate of $0.1252 per kWh (Electric Choice) and the average regular gas price of $3.285 a gallon, as of December 31, 2021 (AAA). For the Corolla, we will divide the total annual mileage of 13,476 miles a year by 100 miles and then multiply that number by 3.0 gallons to get a total of approximately 404 gallons of gasoline used in one year. Multiplying this gas price by $3.285 a gallon, it'll cost about $1,328 each year on gasoline for the Toyota. For the Leaf, we'll divide 13,476 miles by 100 miles and then multiply that quotient by 30kWh. In one year of driving a Leaf, it'll use around 4043kWh of electricity. Multiplying this by the average U.S. energy rate of $0.1252 per kWh, the Leaf will only cost $506 a year on electricity. This sum could fall to an even lower value, factoring in free public charging and $250 worth of EVGo credits in partnership with Nissan. Conclusion Each year, an electric car like the Leaf could save you $822 in fueling costs over a typical gasoline-powered sedan. In four years of ownership, this value could jump to $3,288, and in eight, you could save $6,576. With rising gasoline prices and an increased emphasis on electric vehicle incentives, now's the time to make the switch!
  4. Porsche Is One Step Closer To Producing Synthetic Fuel This could save the combustion engine. With new combustion car sales being banned within the next decade to lower global emissions, many automakers are switching to EVs. Porsche has already started embracing electrification with the Taycan and will launch an electric version of the Macan next year. At the same time, the German automaker is also fighting to save the combustion engine. Last year, Porsche announced a partnership with Siemens Energy to develop a new, almost carbon-neutral synthetic fuel that will extend the life of the combustion engine. After all, the bans will only apply to new combustion car sales, so millions of gas-powered cars will still be on the road polluting the environment. Now, Porsche is one step closer to producing synthetic fuel as construction of the Haru Oni manufacturing plant near Punta Arenas, Chile, where the synthetic fuel will be produced, has begun. Porsche plans to start producing synthetic fuel at the plant next year. Initially, the plant will produce 34,000 gallons of synthetic fuel in 2022, before increasing to 14.5 million gallons by 2024 and 145 million gallons by 2026 at a cost of around $7.6 per gallon. "Porsche was founded with pioneering spirit. That's what drives us, we thrive on innovation. We also see ourselves as pioneers when it comes to renewable fuels, and we want to drive development forward. This fits in with our clear overall sustainability strategy," said Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board for Research and Development at Porsche. "It means that Porsche as a whole can be net CO2 neutral as early as 2030. Fuels produced with renewable energy can make a contribution to this." Steiner adds that the Porsche 911 is "particularly suited to the use of eFuels," which will help keep classic Porsche cars on the road without requiring any mechanical modifications. You might not need to convert your classic Porsche 911 into an electric restomod just yet, then. However, the synthetic fuel will initially be used in Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race cars from 2022. Producing synthetic fuel will be a complicated process. Using wind power, electrolysers split water into oxygen and hydrogen. CO2 is then filtered from the air and combined with the hydrogen to produce synthetic methanol, which is then is converted into eFuel. Porsche is confident the e-Fuel will reduce carbon emissions in combustion engines by up to 90 percent.

  6. Ever wondered why your car's engine performance seems to decrease over the years? It's not just due to wear and tear. If you ask any driver if they can feel a difference in their car's performance compared to when they first bought it, chances are they could. Everyone knows that a car will deteriorate over the years, and I'm not only referring to the paintwork, the worn upholstery and interior panels, but its performance as well. As time goes by and you rack up the mileage on your car, you'll likely also notice how the engine is no longer as responsive and powerful as before. While it could be due to the wear and tear on the engine components, there is another reason for it - your engine internal parts could also be dirty due to deposits and dirt, affecting its performance! Deposits on the intake valve of an engine will negatively affect its performance - use Caltex fuels with Techron® to keep your engine clean Deposits affect the flow of air and fuel in your engine An engine produces power by combusting a mixture of air and fuel. In a normal port fuel-injected engine, fuel and air enters the combustion chamber when the engine's intake valves open. Over time, if poor quality fuel is used and you drive excessively in city driving conditions, deposits will start to form on the intake valves. You just have to imagine a walkway cluttered with plenty of junk and objects - walking through it will not be easy, and you won't be able to get through as quickly as a clear walkway. The same logic applies to the engine - the deposits will hinder fuel and air from entering the combustion chamber, resulting in poor engine performance. All Caltex fuels contain Techron®, an innovative formulation that has been scientifically proven to remove dirt and deposits, and them from forming on critical parts of your car's fuel system such as the fuel injectors and the intake valves; allowing your engine to perform at its best. Caltex with Techron® contains Clean & Glide Technology™, it helps to reduce friction and slow down the process of wear and tear, resulting in improved performance Reducing wear and tear will go a long way The components inside an engine, such as the pistons, operate in a high heat and high stress environment, moving thousands of times in a minute. Over time, these components wear out and become detrimental to the engine's performance. If the engine components are able to operate with less friction and better protection, it will go a long way in prolonging your engine's life, along with improvement in performance and fuel efficiency. While wear and tear cannot be avoided, opting for a quality fuel such as Caltex with Techron® can help to reduce friction and slow down the process. Caltex with Techron® contains Clean & Glide Technology™, which is designed to coat and protect metal surfaces, helping to reduce friction and wear while keeping the engine clean to deliver optimum performance. Caltex with Techron® is tested and proven to reduce wear by up to 38% and friction by up to 41% when compared to its previous formulation. By choosing to fuel up with Caltex with Techron®, you will be enjoying these benefits that can help preserve your engine while offering a powerful and enjoyable drive. Opt for Caltex with Techron® and you can get more out of your car with a healthier and cleaner engine Drive Further on Caltex with Techron® There are many ways you can slow down the wear and tear on your car, and get more out of your it. The simplest one is to opt for nothing but the best. Caltex with Techron® is scientifically proven to clean and protect your car's engine while reducing performance-robbing friction with its Clean & Glide Technology™. By opting for Caltex with Techron® you can enjoy a healthier and cleaner engine that will allow you to drive further and enjoy your journey.

  8. I started smelling fuel outside of my car after a full tank refill. The smell is strongest at the wheel arch on the passenger side. THe smell would go away after the fuel levels goes below 3/4. I thought this was an isolated issue but doing a google search, people in the US are filing a class action suit to get MB to issue a recall. Has anyone in Singapore had this problem and has MB fixed it? The repair cost in the US is around the region of $2000 USD. Not sure of the price in Singapore but I shall be going to the dealer very soon. Check out the websites. If we can get more publicity then perhaps MB singapore will assist. http://jalopnik.com/...-from-customers http://www.prweb.com...rweb9725192.htm http://www.sandiego-...complaint.shtml Forum discussion: http://mbworld.org/f...11-e-class.html
  9. Hi, we have all heard of various cars and their respective FC blah blah blah, but alot of them are hearsay or heard from someone from internet of review or from internet. And i realized not all the time these hearsay or myths are accurate. Example, i used to drive the old Nissan Sunny, before i buy, i already heard many hearsay or comments from internet saying it is a heavy petrol drinker. But for me, after buying it, i usually pumped 33-35litre of full tank, and i can cover average about 400-420km. It wasn't that bad actually right? And now i am driving Elantra, 2011 model. Full tank about 40-42litre...and i can cover 520km per full tank. I don't consider this very good. How about you guys? What car you driving and how much you spent every full tank and how much can it cover you?
  10. Hi Guru,my good Friend's old Porsche Plastic Fuel Tank is leaking, change a new one costed over $3,000,any idea what Epoxy best for Fuel Tank.?Thanks in advance.
  11. This Toyota Wish was treated better than I was when growing up. Watch the video to see why. What happened? At Gelang Patah R&R, a Toyota Wish was spotted being given some special treatment while refuelling. It was gently rocked by its driver and assisted by an attendant in a tender effort to quench the car’s thirst for fuel. I’m jealous. Why couldn’t my parents treat me this way? Looking at this did make me curious though. Does shaking the car do anything at all? Short answer: No. Nope. First, your car has a fixed capacity fuel tank (duh), if it is not fixed and can somehow fill up indefinitely, please contact us at [email protected]. However, the theory is that when filling up petrol there are air pockets that form during the process. This reduces the amount of petrol that one can pump into their car, wasting time and money. Think of it like a soft drink can, where there’s always air in the can so the can is never truly full. However, rocking isn’t the way to solve this. In CNA’s Talking Point episode 32, the director of Mister Garage, Vincent Emmanuel Lee debunked this myth, saying “When we pump the petrol into the tank, it creates foam and vapour (which) occupies the tank. When we wait for the vapour and foam to dissipate, that's when you can pump more petrol into the tank.” This makes shaking ineffective as everything is already at the top instead of within the liquid. Online chatter Back to our usual Facebook clownery, people made fun of the shaking and rightfully deemed it useless. However, some people took offense to the footage being recorded in the first place, saying the person who took the footage had nothing better to do as the driver did nothing illegal. Writer’s thoughts: I was treated very well as a kid I just needed to get your attention for this article lol. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 13. Well my 10 year old car got the COE renewed so am thinking of replacing the fuel filter, not oil filter, not air filter. The fuel filter is in the fuel pump near the fuel tank. CnC quote 600 to replace both the fuel pump and filer as it comes together in as assembly, should I change it, it is pretty ex but the filter should be already dirty.
  14. Cars that run on hydrogen and exhaust only water vapor are emerging to challenge electric vehicles as the world’s transportation of the future. At auto shows on two continents Wednesday, three automakers unveiled hydrogen fuel cell vehicles to be delivered to the general public as early as next spring. Hyundai Motor Co. will be the first to the mass market in the U.S. It unveiled a hydrogen-powered Tucson small SUV at the Los Angeles Auto Show that will be leased to consumers. Honda also revealed plans in Los Angeles for a car due out in 2015. Earlier, at the Tokyo Motor Show, Toyota promised a mass-produced fuel cell car by 2015 in Japan and 2016 in the U.S. Hydrogen cars are appealing because unlike electric vehicles, they have the range of a typical gasoline car and can be refueled quickly. Experts say the industry also has overcome safety and reliability concerns that have hindered distribution in the past. But hydrogen cars still have a glaring downside — refueling stations are scarce, and costly to build. Consumers can expect costs in line with some luxury models. In Tokyo, Toyota promised a price of $50,000 to $100,000, and as close to the lower figure as possible. That’s comparable to its Lexus luxury sedans, but a range that makes the once space-age experiment with fuel cells more credible. Hyundai said it will lease the Tucsons for $499 per month for three years with $3,000 down. And Hyundai is offering to pay the hydrogen and maintenance costs. The company will start leasing in the Los Angeles area, where most of the state’s nine fueling stations are located. California lawmakers have allocated $100 million to build 100 more. Honda wouldn’t reveal any pricing details. Even as battery-powered and hybrid-electric cars took on conventional gasoline models in the past decade, automakers continued research into hydrogen fuel cells, said Paul Mutolo, director of external partnerships for the Cornell University Energy Materials Center. Manufacturers now are limited only by costs and the lack of filling stations, he said. Hydrogen cars, Mutolo said, have an advantage over battery-powered electric cars because drivers don’t have to worry about running out of electricity and having to wait hours for recharging. “It’s very similar to the kind of behavior that drivers have come to expect from their gasoline cars,” he said. Hydrogen fuel cells use a complex chemical process to separate electrons and protons in hydrogen gas molecules. The electrons move toward a positive pole, and the movement creates electricity. That powers a car’s electric motor, which turns the wheels. Since the hydrogen isn’t burned, there’s no pollution. Instead, oxygen also is pumped into the system, and when it meets the hydrogen ions and electrons, that creates water and heat. The only byproduct is water. A fuel cell produces only about one volt of electricity, so many are stacked to generate enough juice. Hydrogen costs as little as $3 for an amount needed to power a car the same distance as a gallon of gasoline, Mutolo said. 15. 7.5km/l on my last tank yikes! I can do bad fc but this is super duper bad on a tiny 1.5L car. Was on Esso 95 previously on the 7.5km/l, just pumped Caltex 95 + Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner and monitoring but so far no improvements. Any suggestions to achieve better fuel consumption so that I can at least make it to KL in one tank? Deciding to stop at Ayer Keroh R&R for A&W should be by choice, not by force. 😆 Please help me get from very bad fc to okok fc hahaha. 🥴
  16. https://metro.co.uk/2021/10/01/army-tankers-will-be-drafted-in-to-deliver-fuel-from-monday-15351790/ what a joke for this to happen in the UK!

  18. Ladies & Gentleman, I would like to have your attention for a minute. As I was surfing the net to look out for newsworthy content (actually, I am looking out for goondu blueSG drivers) to share with everyone, I happened to chance upon the 'crook of the century' bullying a petrol attendant by insisting that he only asked to pump $15 worth of petrol instead of a full tank. Fortunately, Kelvin the Samaritan, who shared this piece of news on social media after, decided to help the petrol uncle attendant out. Here's the recap of the post. Kelvin the Samaritan paid for the petrol. I do not have much information about what had happened, but here's what I think went down: Be gracious toward others. We don't really have a lot of information about the driver of the Toyota Altis, but what I have always been taught is to be gracious toward others. Your car will use the petrol inside the tank at the end of the day, so even if the petrol attendant pumped wrongly, you will still get to use it. If you think of it in another way, the petrol attendant also helped you to save more time going to the petrol kiosk later! $15 petrol I just went to fuelkaki to check on our fuel price, Ron 95 is priced at $2.41 the cheapest. At max he can only have 6.5L of petrol, Let's say the Toyota Altis can have a fuel economy of 12km/L. So roughly after travelling 74km, he will go back and "full-teen" another petrol already. Please arh. Stop arh. Beat your backside then you know. Kudos to Kelvin And a huge shoutout to Kelvin who helped the petrol attendant in such a situation. You deserve a cup of coffee from us! 20. My Avante 1.6 (2008 model) has been great and no major issues so far. However, it gives me headache when each time I go to petrol station. As shown in the pic, the white color plastic sleeve inside the fuel pump is sunken (moved inside) over the years. Therefore, need to pump petrol manually. Meaning we cannot lock the nozzle and let the tank fill automatically. Instead have to manually half-press the fuel nozzle handle and hold it to slowly fill the tank. It takes almost 12-15min to fill the tank fully. This is very troublesome. The technician in the workshop pulled the plastic sleeve up a bit, but next day it went back again. Anyone has seen similar issue before and managed to fix?
  21. due to sky high fuel price, have to switch over from Caltex to SPC to earn another 7% discount (Caltex 11% vs SPC 18%) but some friends told me SPC fuel quality is not as good as other world famous brands (Caltex, Shell, mobil etc), FC and performance both are discounted, and if long term using, might shorten engine lifespan is it??
  22. wat with the rising fuel prices, just wonderin wat are the best gadgets the bros here put in the car just to save fuel thus saving $$$$.pls dun say remove spare tyre hor.....
  23. Hi, Anybody using Sinopec xpower? I tried last week and after travelling 400km on my 12years old honda, I encountered my engine oil turning green. My friend who drive a new Toyota also has the same issue. Anybody face the same problem?
  24. I take the trip meter km reading and divide by the filled up litres at the pump, getting km/l. I then compute the monthly average to judge economy vs driving trend. Anyone else with other methods?
  25. As above, the honda civic 1.8 fuel tank capacity how much ah?? Thanks!
