Not just any platinum, double platinum gives you the longest. They cost more than Iridium plugs in most cases. 70-80 for a set of 4. That is why if you are not going to change car and will most likely keep it for long, use these long life plugs. Else, stick to copper.

Iridium can last 160k if it is the normal type but right now most makers are making them cost more than platinum and platinum is actually more expensive than iridium. shakehead.gif

If it is the Denso fine point iridium, it can only last 30k.

Copper can last 30k if you know how to take them out at 10k and gap them back to your engine's specified gapping for spark plugs.

Stay away from Splitfire. Marketing BS. Stick with NGK or Bosch but don't go for the Super 4s.

Are these set of 4's?

You got to do the math. Check out the price of the regular coppers. Assuming you change them out lets say every 10k or 20k (or 30k if you really kiam). Assuming the double platinum plugs or something goes to 160k (100k miles). So you figure out how many normal copper plugs is needed to reach 160k. You multiply this with cost of the copper plug. You get the total cost for that mileage. Compare with the platinum plug and see if the platinum plug is lower. No need to factor in the labor cost for replacing them.

If the platinum plugs cost way higher than your regular coppers for that mileage, they are too expensive.

Finally there is the factor of your mileage or your intentions with the car. If you want to drive until the COE expires, platinums are worth it. If you are going to change your car in 3yrs or have a change car habit like changing clothes, use coppers.
