Darkness Neutral Newbie August 4, 2004 Share August 4, 2004 Hi all polishing gurus...a quick question... i just bought some cheap wax...some jap brand called diox (spelling) for 9.80 only....tried on my car to remove some scratches and also wax the boot...any boy i love it....it feels so smooth....the part w/o wax is rough and the waxed part is the scratch almost gone unless view very closely la...ok so here's the questions.... now i interested to wax the whole car liao but i realise that the paint already got some stubbon stains like yellow spots here and there and also grain size sand like black particles the just refuse to budge.....so correct me if wrong but i have to clean the car body fully b4 i wax it rite....no point i just wash with shampoo then wax rite? ok so wat do i use to remove all this stubbon stains....must i use polish (read in one thread that it might scratch the paint work)...or should i use claybar then wax the whole car for the shine and smoothness? also i notice although the car feels smooth but not really shiny the area i apply wax...so next time if i buy diff brand of wax like say autoglym etc can i apply over it? on top of wax must i apply sealent? if so wat brand and where to get...cheaper the better don wan to spend too much hee hee and lasty how long b4 i remove/buff off excess wax huh...the last time after 2 mins i remove it liao is that why no shine? sorry huh so many qs..... thanks all ↡ Advertisement
Jagash Neutral Newbie August 5, 2004 Share August 5, 2004 Hi. I think, the wax you bought is a cleaner wax ie it cleans and wax in 1 step. IMO it is better to do these 2 steps separately. For your car, best is to wash, claybar and then use a pre-wax cleaner / swirl remover before waxing. I think it will take you 5-6 hours at least for the job. If you want to switch wax or sealant, suggest you do a full strip down - use dishwashing liquid, clay (if surface not smooth), pre-cleaner or swirl remover and then wax. For all these steps, always read the instructions on the individual products. Some products need time for curing before buffing off but some do not. There are many good brands in the market - Klasse, Meguiars, 3M, Mothers, Zymol etc. Choose the productbased on the type of shine you like and also on the colour of your car.
