Assassin Clutched August 7, 2004 Share August 7, 2004 Hi there, Well...I've only done that once so far... and the car was relatively clean then. My usual steps are rinse, shampoo, rinse, claybar, rinse, dry. Then once in a while will polish and use swirl mark remover to clean up the fine spiderwebs. ↡ Advertisement

Sapience Clutched August 9, 2004 Share August 9, 2004 Hi Steelblue, Zaino clay bar is too expensive liao. Personally, this is what I use, Soft99. ~S$10 from most car accessories shops. SHUCKS!!! i just bought meguiars clay bar for $36! home-fix at compass point doesn't carry this... some more it's the AGGRESSIVE type of clay bar, dare not to use it yet... Zany Neutral Newbie August 11, 2004 Share August 11, 2004 I bought the Meguiars clay bar too and used it on my light blue car last weekend. Very soft texture compared to the Zaino one which I find really hard. Easy to fold to a new section after the one section gets dirty. Being of a soft texture and dark maroon in colour too, you need to be careful to ensure that there is enough lubrication (car shampoo will do) on the car surface before rubbing the clay bar otherwise some parts of the clay bar may break off and stick on the car surface and you'll have some difficulty removing it. Car surface definitely very smooth after the clay bar session. Possibly smoother than when I used the Zaino clay bar. Since the piece is so big and expensive, suggest that you cut it up into 2 or 3 pieces to use.

Assassin Clutched August 12, 2004 Share August 12, 2004 u claybar everytime u wash your car? how often do u wash? and do u klasse after that? wah...one session take how long? Hi Jiayong, I only clay bar the panels/areas that I can feel that is not smooth anymore. When you shampoo your car, run your fingers over the paintwork... if you can feel some grit or rough particles on the paintwork, its time to clay bar liao. So clay barring is as and when required. Typically try to do a full once every 6 months, but it also depends on how you take care of your ride. I try to wash my ride at least once a week. After washing, you can use whatever products on your ride. For me, its either Klasse, Mothers Sealer & Glaze, or Meguiars NXT Wax. From washing to applying sealant and buffing off.... would take me around 1.5-2hours.

Assassin Clutched August 12, 2004 Share August 12, 2004 Nope. Clay barring just removes the minute contaiminants stuck on your paintwork. Thats it.
