Vw golf aircon comp taktaktak,issit advisable to change immediately?

my 5yr old golf4 is acting up

the aircon comp goes taktak,but still cold.can i still carry on using till it stops totally?

got quotes to change to new 1 at abt $800:(

Car aircon lifespan about 150k km, or about 5-6 years on the average. As such, I think it is about time. BTW, do u see white mist from the air outlets even u have completely closed your outdoor vent?

some folks say they whack in some compressor oil and the sound quietens and they could go on using it for quite a while more.
