Pisces69 6th Gear August 20, 2004 Share August 20, 2004 Very similar to those hi power pick-ups you find in MY. If you want to buy in SG in place of the matrix, check the road tax first.
Rosicky Neutral Newbie August 20, 2004 Author Share August 20, 2004 oh...road tax is $950 a year. omv for this vehicle is about 20k. tax is 110%. coe 7k. but not scrap value... loan max 7 years at 3.3%.
Rustycar Neutral Newbie August 20, 2004 Share August 20, 2004 I test drove MT & AT. I prefer AT cos smoother power. Due to long throw of MT, gear changes very jerky or maybe it's me not used to the clutch. For MT, some goodies are removed. Things like ABS, rear folding seats & storage behind rear seats, rear centre armrest, auto dim rear view mirror and exterior antena. But both comes with the 'D' pillars with side cargo handrails(colour coded). Very rugged looking I must say. The rear cargo canvas cover is over $1K as an option. U interested in buying? Wanna group buy?
Pisces69 6th Gear August 21, 2004 Share August 21, 2004 I thought Diesel Vehicles have a very high road or diesel tax here????? Then most pple buy diesel vehicles, gov will lose alot of revenue on petrol tax. Any special costs/conditions other than normal ones to pay yearly??? If none, then most pple sure change to diesel vehicles as cheaper to run in sillypore.
Rustycar Neutral Newbie August 21, 2004 Share August 21, 2004 (edited) Diesel tax will only be levied if vehicle wants to have a private plate i.e SFx xxxx x. Such cases will have a whopping 7-8x of the equivelant petrol road tax! The down side of owning a 'G'-plated twin cab is there is no scrap value at the end of 10 years, have to check permitted unladen weight of individual MSCP before you park, a special permit to enter Malaysia and you can only travel at sane speeds. Advantage is the fuel economy of getting a diesel. Relatively low cost of having a 2.9TDI vehicle with 118bhp and 260Nm at 2,250rpm. You can also travel at leisurely speeds and enjoy the scenery. Incidentally, Ssangyong Musso has a record breaking fuel consumption. Maniax Neutral Newbie August 22, 2004 Share August 22, 2004 What is the speed limit for such a truck? Any way to increase it legally? It would be a waste having such a cool truck travel at just 60km/h.
Rustycar Neutral Newbie August 22, 2004 Share August 22, 2004 All commercial vehicles or 'G' plate vehicles have a speed limit of 60km/h. Meaning travel at 60km/h but can overtake at speeds not more than 80km/h and keep right at all times unless overtaking. If U wanna increase the speed limit legally, U have to fork up 7-8X the road tax of the normal petrol engine of the same capacity! With the garret turbo inside, U can have some fun in some deserted areas or when U go NSHW.
Rosicky Neutral Newbie August 23, 2004 Author Share August 23, 2004 well... i have not went for a test drive. just sold my car (y2k accent) last month, now enjoying public transport. was thinking of buying a euro van, buy wife complains that oni 2 seat...and wants to get a matrix instead. have test drive the matrix and find that the pickup very chiatlat. matrix owner's dun whip me... considering the price is about the same...the musso seems to be a good deal... Rustycar Neutral Newbie August 23, 2004 Share August 23, 2004 Go test it. Look for Edison at Ssangyong Motors, Ubi. He's very friendly and obliging. I tested both and decided to go for the AT one. Remember to bring your wife along too. She'll be impressed.
Rosicky Neutral Newbie August 24, 2004 Author Share August 24, 2004 u have booked one?! 2WD AT? I dun really agree that the scrap value will be a very big disadvantage, considering a car in the same price bracket (eg. matrix or vios), scrap value is
Rustycar Neutral Newbie August 24, 2004 Share August 24, 2004 Will do the booking next week. Agree with you regarding value. Happened to learn that a Nissan twincab owner who renewed his COE at $8K+ tried to sell his ride(in good condition) to get the Musso SUT. His average quote from a few dealers was $15K !!! I was bloody pleased to hear that.
