Generally Performance tyres heavier?

Hi guys...duno is it a myth or wat..that sports/performance tyres are heavier den normally run of the mill tyres(aspecDB PUI!)?

Not really true.

Michellin Pilot Sport 2 is about 10kg each (225/45/17)

Pirelli Dragon is about 11kg each

I think the CSC2 is about 8-9kg each.

dunno but won't be surprised either as UHP tyre construction may hv more heavy duty steel belts, beefed up carcass, etc.

Nope. Performance can be light too with all your nice grip nice compound stiff sidewalls etc etc etc.

They are lighter size for size - always. People sometimes upsize+1 or +2 still tend to be lighter.

 

And performance rims are always lighter. But you get what you pay for
