Anyway, better to get from MI. Dun think the resale value is low... where did u get tat impression?
Luckcent 4th Gear October 18, 2004 Share October 18, 2004 why ? are you buying the car to sell.......!!
Nemesis Neutral Newbie October 18, 2004 Author Share October 18, 2004 I'm actually contemplating in getting 1 myself since over the last weekend they have a offer of immediate reg. The only drawn back was that the resale value is LOW!! So ... .... don't dare to commit SO is it true? or juz rumor??
Nemesis Neutral Newbie October 18, 2004 Author Share October 18, 2004 Sorry no lar, haven't even buy one yet. Thinking of getting 1 yet scare the resale of the GT is low hence put off the idea Hear so many 2nd hand dealer say so And also if u visit Ubi, Turf City & etc, don't see anyone dealing with the GT although I think GT is only in Singapre for
Mojoe Neutral Newbie October 18, 2004 Share October 18, 2004 (edited) frankly, in sg, which car has high re-sale value, esp. in this current era? .. a lambo or porsche perhaps? re-sale value is over-hyped by 2nd hand dealers now frankly.. i don't think you should be too overly concern with this or with selling the car even before you buy it... if you are even thinking of re-sale or selling even before you get this car, then perhaps this car is not for you? or perhaps you should consider getting a 2nd hand car since the 1st 2-3 years have highest depreciation? does this car stir your emotions? if it does and you can afford it, perhaps you should go ahead with it? even if a car has high re-sale but it's one that doesn't really give you that silly grin when you drive it, then what's the point? further... how can anyone say the GT has low re-sale when there isn't one to "re-sell"? it's too new dude.. they might say Subaru has low resale and that might be refering to the other models rather than the GT.. but like i said, which car make doesn't have low re-sale now that 2nd hand car sales is at a 10 year low? just my $0.02 worth... Mojoe Neutral Newbie October 18, 2004 Share October 18, 2004 Someone dealing with GT now? errmm... ... it's only a few months old right dude? if there are many in the 2nd hand market, then something is wrong... and besides... those 2nd hand dealers also tend to say a lot of things... all their cars are accident-free, no problems at all, best in Sg and some say JB too... Nemesis Neutral Newbie October 18, 2004 Author Share October 18, 2004 Thx Mojoe Agree on your 2cents. This car definitely stir me up. Except for 2 things, the passenger seat no electric control and 2nd the ICE not MP3able. Beside these, powerful engine with good handling. Need to consider it's resale value as nobody can forecast 2 to 3 years down the road? New COE system?? or ... .... So need to have contigency plan if situation force to sell it then don't need to lost so much
Mojoe Neutral Newbie October 18, 2004 Share October 18, 2004 (edited) no one can predict the resale now with the market going hay-wire... there may not be a 2nd-hand market in 2-3 years times .. remember the ST report on a 10 year low in 2nd hand car sales? i think a lot of 2nd hand dealers will go up in smoke and no one dares to take in car above paper + body value from the comments of those who test-drove it, with this car, you may never need to consider selling in 2-3 years time coz it brings a lot of driving joy for those who test-drove it Pay with your head, but buy the make also with your heart i always say what other cars are you considering beside the LGT? Nemesis Neutral Newbie October 18, 2004 Author Share October 18, 2004 Looking for a affordable Turbo car, in mind has GT, AirTrek T, Forester. Any good recommedation??
Mojoe Neutral Newbie October 18, 2004 Share October 18, 2004 between the 3? I say the GT!! apart from that? errm S40 T5? Saab 93? .. but for these, i would go 2nd hand..
Nemesis Neutral Newbie October 18, 2004 Author Share October 18, 2004 I agree GT is the best choice over the 3. That's wise still pondering ... ... Hear Volvo handling not that good furthermore S40 still new in market probably like GT, no 2nd hand ones. Saab 93 should be a good car never come into my mind yet, probably hunt around and test drive it. But both car is LPT not like GT, may I correct? Vamp Neutral Newbie October 18, 2004 Share October 18, 2004 (edited) If u talk about resale value, Saab is the worst due to the high margin by dealer (ie. think in range of $35 to 45K). Saab is definitely for ppl with deeper pockets and crazy about the badge. As for Volvo S40 T5, personally, I choosed the LGT over it due to many reasons (ie. higher price, poorer visibility, blind spot, turbo lag, high cc (ie. high road tax, FWD, and some of the quality and design issues reported in Volvo forum) etc). By itself, the S40 T5 is not bad till I compare it with the LGT. Till now, I have not heard anyone selling the LGT. In fact, there are a lot of WRX converts who are changing to the LGT for better comfort. The current generation of LGT is slightly more than a year old and is a major improvement over the last generation Legacy. Think most 2nd hand car dealers r more familiar with the older generation Legacy. Edited October 18, 2004 by Vamp
Luckcent 4th Gear October 19, 2004 Share October 19, 2004 you should not be thinking of the resale value of the car that you have in mind. Just follow your heart and buy the car that you love. Imagine when I bought my conti car at a price of 91k and only a 1.4l .
Nemesis Neutral Newbie October 19, 2004 Author Share October 19, 2004 So your hear fall in love with which Conti car? Fabia?
Luckcent 4th Gear October 19, 2004 Share October 19, 2004 it was the Renault Megane Classic when it was launched.
Mojoe Neutral Newbie October 19, 2004 Share October 19, 2004 The new S40's handling should be alright leh... based on the new Focus leh ... Saab 93 i would go 2nd hand coz that one i heard the mark-up is high so better to get 2nd hand.. the new S40 T5 is LPT, but the old S40 T4 is HPT, 93 not too sure, but i think the Aero is HPT? Nemesis Neutral Newbie October 19, 2004 Author Share October 19, 2004 Thx Vamp for the encouraging words. Look like LGT is a much love car for the forum members. BTW I believe that isn't alot of LGT B4 version (the older LGT) on the road too. Hence juz worried. So any Bros out there convert WRX to LGT Comments ↡ Advertisement
