Spinner Neutral Newbie March 19, 2002 Share March 19, 2002 A novice qn: My pal says that changing the exhaust box at the tail is a total waste or money. I think he is refering to changing it to something like Hotbits etc. What he meant is that the ROV will never pass such a change during the inspection. What he adviced is to get the exhaust shop to open up the existing exhaust box (is that the right term?) and remove all those wires and gauzes in there so that the restricted flows are rectified. He said you end up having a original "looking" exhaust without running risks of ROV inspection failure. Can anyone confirm these "words of wisdom"? Pauly75ts Neutral Newbie March 19, 2002 Share March 19, 2002 Hi! there, Spinner, For inspection, as long as there're no labels, brand name, etc., and your tail-pipe is original looking, without chrome, DTM styled, big diameter ends, it should pass the inspection. A straight-through exhaust system with a DTM tailpipe failed an inspection. After cutting off the tailpipe and welded a normal tube, it passed, even though the tail doesn't have much use other than looking nice. And Aman sayz SD is from Thailand!! He temporary fitted the SD for me to try. Warrao, fibre glass (used for sound damping inside) was flying out as I rev man!! Scared of the fishy quality man!! MkIIToledo Neutral Newbie March 20, 2002 Share March 20, 2002 Help is urgently needed Recently installed a high flow muffler to my Xsara. The result was not to my expectations. Low end torque almost gone. Previously my Xsara was pretty responsive at low rev as peak torque arrived at 3000rpm. After the installation, can see the rpm needle taking its own sweet time to climb the rev range. Only after ard 4K rpm do I see an surge in the rate of increase (putting a smile back into my face). But anyway, conti cars are not high revving machines and the SG driving conditions seldom need me to rev beyond 3K on normal days. Even my wife can feel the diff (she though I was saving fuel after the recent price hike . Any ideas (short of swapping back my stock muffler, luckily kaisu and ask to keep it) of improving the situation. Have not change the cat yet though (waiting for so good stuff to come in from overseas [angelic] TL Hi TL, Like you I fitted panel K&N filter, aftermarket muffler done too. The exhaust was roaring like crazy and that was under a month of running in the SD resonator, quality sucks IMHO.
