You should wait for a little while more (about 1-2 months). There will be a new Nissan Model which meant to replace the ageing Sunny. Check with TC or do a search on the net to find out more info.

Sunny - 80% parts from China/Taiwan, 20% from Japan though assembled in Japan

Lancer - though fully from Japan but a lot of cut cost here and there, just worry they might use faulty parts

Anyway, both cars FC not good as well!

My advice is to get the nissan sunny. The Service of the TC is not bad and with 2 years free servicing, it is a steal. Mitsubishi is in deep shiitty now as the coy may go kaput next year april. however, the lancer does look better and more spacious for the back passenger than sunny.

Personally, I think Sunny is a better buy. In term of dep, the overall package

Performance wise, more or less same on both car. but if talk about look, definitely lancer better.

Was attracted to Lacncer by the look too but the choice was narrowed down to these 2 choices is basically because of cost.

Currently Nissan have a very attractive package. they have 2.5 year service free, cash rebate from your loan and with 1k rebate on in house loan if I'm not wrong. My fren jus booked last sunday. For a EX, if after rebate, think only cost about 58K.

If you go for auto, then lancer you much take extra care about the gear box. Heard horror story about it. good luck :)

Can't comment on the remarks on the origin of the parts. However, having driven both cars, I achieved on average 12+km/l with the Sunny and Lancer. The Lancer actually managed 14km/l for several occasions. I'm talking about auto for both models btw. [;)]

How are these 2 selling at? Around $60k? If it's at around $60k, then Toyota Vios is the choice. It's based on the echo platform which is a very good one which have many good reviews in Europe and the engine is a modern one too.

But many have commented that Lancer no power cos it is using SOHC engine, I have test drive it myself and I can feel the difference. But I would advise to avoid Lancer at all times due to the bad reputation of the Mitsubishi and using faulty parts for their cars in Japan so you will not know whether they will do the same for export models.

TC service is better than C&C overall imho but if you go to SNC and SLC, you will hear forumers biatching about TC and C&C. It seems that it's Autosaver and Auto-Technica getting all the good comments so you know where to go for servicing for 2nd hand cars!

SOHC is not the reason why Lancer has no power. Going by the same logic, Honda Civic also no power but I betcha almost every bro and sis here will tend to agree that the Civic is one of the more powerful car in its class. Both SOHC and DOHC have their own merits imho. wink.gif

I feel a lot of people who have driven Lancer Auto CVT tend to drive the car by revving it like a normal auto or manual. When they watch the tacho (and engine noise) rise and experience a non-corresponding rise in the car's speed, most people conclude naturally that the car has no power. Cars equipped with CVT drivetrains are meant for smooth pickups and less aggressive driving styles (supposed to be fuel saving as well as the infinite ratios supposed to bring the optimum out of the engine). However, I do agree that it is not a powerful car but it is adequate. The only cars that I feel are powerful (enough) in the 1.6l range are the Honda SiR, Mini and (God forbid shocked.gif) Golf among those I have driven.

As for the bad reputation on faulty parts, all car manufacturers have at one point or another recalled vehicles. The one big mistake made by MMC is by hiding the issues. That really ruined the reputation and brand name. There might be a genuine concern there with the sustainability of MMC over the next 2 years but I won't completely write them off (they are after all not in the same league as Daewoo). Hopefully, they can do a Nissan and who knows? Whether to buy Lancer or not, the ultimate choice is still left to the buyer. After all, has anyone realized how many Lancers there are on the streets!? laugh.gif

Wah I see alot of guys here are against Mitsubishi cars.. interesting...

Just got the new lancer and am very satisfied with it. Its so smooth I dun even know which gear am I in.. even my passengers were pleasently surprised...

No power ?.. hmm.. I think quite ok la...there's the sports mode if u wanna cioing.. but never used that gear before as well.. I'm a safe driver..:)

This is gonna be my 3rd lancer I'n driving and the last 2 didn't give me problems for 10 years. [thumbsup] Well I think its just the media and the misconception.. I've searched through forums and found that there are bound to be some cars of any brands that well break down or auto gearbox overhaul.. Mazda 2, Honda Civic, Camery ... I think it really is the driver that needs to give the car the TLC that the car needs and regular servicing.

I didn't even test drive the sunny coz I think the lancer looks so much nicer.

Any ways in terms of servicing, I think Sunny's 2 years free servicing is good. C&C servicing I admit is kind of expensive.

if its between nissan/lancer.. then I 'll choose lancer. FC for both should be about the same, but Lancer pickup should be better. In addition i feel the nissan design is a bit "uncle"

Well, that's what CVTs are famous for.

Everyone has their own needs when it comes to making a choice. If the car suits your requirement, then you have gotten yourself a good car.

Enjoy.

Ya lor.. precisely... Actually wanted to buy the Honda City... but then I dun wan to spend the rest of my 5 to 10 years behind my wheels trying to pyscho myself that the car is nice and beautiful..no offence to those who own the citys [sweatdrop] .. just my own preference...

That time spent so much time chosing a car... plotted a comparison matrix... put in weightage factors... and finally decided on the lancer ... [thumbsup] Really depends on your lifestyle, wans/needs in life (family, kids , single), job requirements... etc etc...
