It's good that people are sitting up and noticing safety in cars now especially pedestrian safety. The next car I get, safety would definitely be higher up on the consideration list.

Euro NCAP crash test is one the Euro3 and coming Euro4 standards......tat's why nowadays new cars here are "over-weight" with high FC.......

in future, all cars with 5 star rating for pedestrian, will have bonnets that are high and pretty much vertical, making the car practically looking like a large ball....and when you knock someone down, he can just dust his jeans and carry on walking......

Better pedestrian safety also means that our cars will crumple alot more easily. Imagine pedestrians creating dinks in our cars when they walk past!
